Page 17 of His Aries Heiress (BLP Signs of Love #21)
Love to an Aries is to risk getting burned while stepping into the fire.
The stars sparkled above them as Cassydie and Marcellus made their way through the massive yacht.
“This is wild.” Cassydie giggled from the extravagance of it all. She wasn’t sure she would ever get used to this shit. “You really rented this out just for us?”
“Yeah, woman. I told you that already,” Marcellus said with a sly grin.
He’d gone all out for Cassydie tonight. No expense was too great.
She realized he must have meant what he said when he said he wanted to put a smile on her face.
She hadn’t been able to stop smiling since she saw this big ass boat.
“I’ve never been on a yacht before,” she commented when they came to a stop at the head of the boat.
Marcellus stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her as they looked out at the ocean and the stars. “I’ll buy you one. You want this one?”
She giggled and then felt thrilled at the idea. The world was dead ass at her fingertips. Not only was she rich, but so was Marcellus, and he made it known he would spoil her if she let him. The thought of it was so dizzying, but she felt a calmness wash over her.
She spent a lot of time yesterday and most of the day today talking to her parents and Cierra.
She even had a few words with Gregory and Renee.
She cried, she laughed, and she worked out some puzzling thoughts.
At the end of it, everything in her being urged her to just be happy.
Let go of the life that should have been and grab onto the life she had right in front of her.
Though she knew it wouldn’t be easy, she suddenly felt up for the challenge.
“Maybe.” She grinned and leaned her head back into his chest.
He kissed her temple. “You still mad at me?”
“Yes.” And that was the truth, but she had forgiven him.
He turned her around in his embrace and gazed down at her. “What I gotta do to change that, baby?”
“I think it’ll just take time. I’m not even mad, really. Just hurt. And I’m sad, but you were right. I still have you guys. I still have Tato. I just don’t know how well I can trust you. I guess that’s where I’m at with it now.”
Marcellus shrugged. “I swear to you I’m an open book now. I ain’t got shit to hide. You know it all.”
“Like I said, I think it’ll take time. I’m not ready to give up on us just yet, so I’m willing to work through these trust issues with you.”
“Word?” Marcellus asked. He couldn’t stop the goofy grin on his face if he wanted to. “So that mean you wanna be my woman?”
She tilted her head back and laughed. He loved to see it. He wanted to see her like this more often. It was so unfortunate that they met at such an emotional time in their lives, but he looked forward to seeing the good times with her in the near future.
“Not quite yet. So much has changed for me recently. I really want to slow down whatever this is between us and really get to know you. I been thinking about looking for my own place?—”
“Yeah, nah. That ain’t gon’ happen. Sorry, sweetheart, but I draw the line there. We can go as slow as you want for now, but we definitely live together.” Marcellus wasn’t even going to play with her like that. He needed to be up under her every chance he got. That was nonnegotiable.
“How did I know you weren’t going to go for that?”
He kissed her lips. “You know your man well.”
“You aren’t my man,” she whispered before she kissed him again.
He pulled back. “Ew, stop kissin’ on me then,” he joked.
She giggled and slapped his shoulder. “Boy, whatever. We might not be official, but we definitely go together real bad.”
Marcellus cocked his head to the side. “What do that even mean?”
“It means we go together real bad.”
He chuckled. “Man, whatever. Long as you know where home is, I ain’t trippin’. Real talk, we can go as slow as you need.”
She peered up at him. “You know if we’re ever going to work long term, you need to tell Tato you’re his father, right?”
Marcellus nodded his head slowly. “I planned to do that anyway. Will you help me with that?”
“Of course.” She placed her cheek on his chest, and he squeezed her tightly.
“I love you.” The words came out of his mouth so quietly, she wasn’t sure she heard them. But she knew she did.
She smiled with her face still pressed against his chest. “Even though you ain’t my man, I love you too, Marcellus.”
He chuckled as he rubbed her back. A comfortable silence overtook them as they got lost in the view and lost in each other.
