The line is silent for a beat, and I know she’s going to say yes. She doesn’t have a good excuse as to why she can’t come. She’s not working that night. “You’re buying my dress.”

“I love you, Eady. Thank you. Ethan is going to get us at six Saturday night. Come to my apartment and we’ll get ready together.”

I jump out of my seat with a huge smile on my face, excited to tell Ethan that Callan has a date. I smooth my skirt and stand in front of Ethan’s office door. I knock and push it open without waiting for his reply. He’s in the bathroom with the door closed. I take a seat and wait for him to finish so I can tell him right away and he can cross one thing off his extensive list.

I hear him grunt behind the door and then breathe a heavy sigh in relief.Oh my God! He’s jacking off in there. My face heats up as I picture his large hands over his equally large cock. Picturing him sliding his hand up and down. My hand slides between my legs, and I rub over my engorged clit a few times before I mentally slap myself.

Not professional, Addy!

I pull my hand away and fix my skirt.Jesus, I wish I could watch him.I wonder who he’s thinking of. Too many thoughts are running around in my mind, and I now know I shouldn’t be here. I stand, and just as I reach for the door handle, I hear him behind me.

“Addy, what are you doing in here?” His voice is tight. He looks back at the open bathroom door, and I peek past him to see a towel on the edge of the sink.

“I-ah… I knocked. I wanted to tell you my friend agreed to be Cal’s date for Saturday.”

“How long have you been here?” he asks, his eyes narrowing, daring me to lie to him.

“Only about a minute. I thought you were just using the restroom,” I squeak and lower my chin. I can’t look at him. If I do, I know my own feelings and desires will reflect back. How badly I want it to be me he thinks of when playing with himself. How badly I want to be the one to bring him pleasure.

“What’s your friend’s name? I’ll let Callan know, and the four of us will go together.”

I’m thankful that he’s decided to ignore this little incident for now.“Uh, Ro-Roxanne. I’ll make sure she gets ready over at my place.”

“Great.” I peer up at him, waiting for... I don’t know what. His jaw is locked as he crosses his arms over his chest. “Anything else?”

“N-no, Mr. Freeman.” I slink out of his office and close the door behind me. Normally, he wouldn’t intimidate me, but today, today is different. I’m too turned on to fight back. I can’t look at him any longer without wanting to jump his bones. I need to get out of here. I type up a quick email telling him I’m going to an early lunch and gather my stuff.

I walk the few blocks toJohnson and Smith Associatesand pull open the door. The robust woman behind the desk smiles warmly at me. “Hi, Addison. What can I do for you today?”

“Hi, Linda, is Maxwell in? I need to speak to him.”

Before she can respond, he comes into view. “Ms. Snyder, to what do I owe the pleasure?”

“We need to talk. It’s important.” He jerks his head for me to follow him, and I take a seat in his office as he closes the door. “I pay for a member’s dues, but he doesn’t know it’s me. He’s now been snooping around to find out who pays them, and I know he’ll be reaching out to you. Our files are locked tight, but I know he’s snooping.”

“This wouldn’t be Ethan Freeman, would it?” I pull my bottom lip between my teeth and nod, my eyes wide with worry. “It’s your business, so I won’t question it. He left a message for me, but I haven’t called him back yet. I was going to call Ms. Riser to ask about it.”

“I need him to stop snooping, and I thought I would be able to fudge a few things to make it look like it was coming from his company, but he got in touch with accounting before I could.” I drop my head into my hands. “I don’t know what to do.”

“I believe he did a small project for our firm years back. I’ll call him back and come up with a story. I’ll tell him we offered him a membership for work he did, free of charge or something. I’ll handle it.”

I take a deep breath and look at him, relief washing over me. I give him a warm smile. “Thank you, Maxwell. I don’t know what we would do without you.”

He smirks and nods his head in understanding. “I’ll keep you posted, but don’t worry about it.”

I walk out feeling better than I have in days and stop to get another coffee for Ethan and me. When I step into his office, he’s seething. His hands are clenched by his sides and his face is red. He takes one look at me, and his features soften before three long strides put him directly in front of me. Reaching his hands out to put them on my shoulders, he then drops them at the last minute.

“I know you heard more than you’re telling me, and I want to apologize. It was very unprofessional of me, and I promise it won’t happen again. I would prefer if you didn’t go to HR with this, but I understand if you feel you must.” He takes the coffee from my outstretched hand as I try to come up with what to say.

“Ethan,” he snaps his head up to look at me, and I can’t decipher the look he gives me. Maybe it’s lust, want, temptation? If only.“This is your office, and I shouldn’t have walked in. I’ll make sure to wait next time. It’ll be our secret.”

He furrows his brows, and his mouth is popped open in disbelief. I know what he’s probably thinking. Most women would jump at the chance to tell this juicy story, but I would never do anything to hurt him like that, even if he doesn’t know it.

“You’re something else, has anyone ever told you that?”

I feel my face heat up, and I look to the ground. You did once, a long time ago.“Not in recent years.”

“Well, your boyfriend is an idiot for not saying it more often.”
