When it does, I carefully roll us over so I’m on my back and can hold Myles against my chest. He snuggles into me and lets out the cutest sigh as I run one hand through his hair and let him enjoy the afterglow.

I rubmy cheek into Jax’s strong chest as the world around us comes back into focus.

What the actual fuck just happened?

One minute I’m coming back to my room after a shower and feeling sorry for myself while simultaneously chastising myself for even entertaining the idea that Jax could be my stalker. Now I’m cuddled up in Jax’s arms after having the best sex of my life with him.

“Are you with me?” he asks in a low, teasing voice.

“I think so.” I clear my throat. “That was…”

“Yes,” he agrees. “It was.”

I wait for him to untangle himself from me and get dressed now that I’m functional again, but he just rubs my back in a way that’s both soothing and possessive.

“I don’t understand what happened,” I tell him after a few beats of silence.

“What don’t you understand?”

He doesn’t sound exasperated or annoyed with me. That has to be a good sign, right?

“How any of this happened.”

I know I’m not making a lot of sense right then, but my brain is still scrambled from not just my orgasms, but also the big reveal that happened before the orgasms.

“What do you mean?” Now he sounds amused.

“Any of this. How you started observing me, how you, of all people, find me interesting. How we ended up like this.”

“I started observing you because you were helping someone kill Felix. He’s family, so a threat against him is a threat against me. Once we knew who you were, I started observing you to see if you willingly participated in what happened and if you were still a threat to us.”

“You didn’t do it because you were trying to find a way to take me out for what I did?”

“No.” He puts his fingers under my chin and tilts my face up so I’m looking at him. “I would have if I thought you truly were a threat, but I went into this assuming you weren’t. The backdoor you put in your code made me think that you were either asking for help or trying to help us catch the real threats by leaving us breadcrumbs.” He brushes a soft kiss against my lips. “And I was right about both, wasn’t I?”

I nod, my head spinning with good feels and a mess of questions.

“How did you know about the code?” I ask. “Do you know the hacker who’s been fucking around in my system?”

He chuckles, his eyes bright with humor.

“You do know!” I accuse. “Who is it? I’ve been trying to nail that fucker for months, but he’s always a half step ahead of me.”

“You want to know?” he teases.

“Yes, dammit. Tell me before I lose my ever-loving mind.”

“My brother.”

The entire world goes quiet, and I’m rendered completely speechless.

Jax laughs at my stunned silence.
