“What if I do?” he presses.
“Then you fix it and move on.”
“What if?—”
I kiss him again to try and quell some of his nerves. “Do you trust me?”
He nods quickly.
“Then trust me when I say you have nothing to be nervous about. My father wouldn’t have offered you this job if he didn’t think you could do it. It doesn’t matter that you’re with me, mydad and uncles don’t fuck around when it comes to business. And you’ll be working with Jace, so you won’t be alone.”
He chews on his lip again, but I can see I’m getting through to him.
“I just don’t want to make them regret trusting me,” he whispers.
“They won’t.” I drop another kiss against his lips.
“Hola, fuckers,” Jace announces as he throws the door to our room open and comes inside like he owns the place. “Oh good, you’ve still got your pants on.”
“What do you want?” I ask, shooting him a flat look.
“Is that any way to talk to your favorite brother?” He makes an exaggerated sad face at me.
“Hey, Jace,” Myles says, giving him a big smile. “What are you doing here?” He looks between us. “I thought Jax dropped you off at your place.”
“He did.” Jace lumbers over to our bed and jumps up on it. “But there’s no one home, and you know what happens when I’m left to my own devices.” He leans back on his hands and gently swings his feet. “Besides, we’re going out.”
“We are? Myles asks.
“Yup. It’s a time-honored tradition.”
Myles shoots me a confused look.
“Do you remember how we took Felix out the weekend before he started at the company?” Jace asks. “Now it’s your turn.”
“I think there has to be more than two instances for something to be a time-honored tradition,” Myles says with a grin.
“Probably,” Jace agrees. “But whatever. We’re going out, and you’re the man of the hour. And it’s a good thing you kept your pants on because Killian and Felix are on their way over and Xave’s gonna meet us once he finishes up whatever the fuck he’sdoing. You’ll have lots of time to bone later.” He gives Myles a little wink.
“Where are we going?” Myles looks down at himself. “Do I need to change.”
“Nope, you’re good. And it’s a surprise.”
“A surprise?” Myles asks.
Jace nods. “Yup, but don’t worry. Jax planned it, so you’ll enjoy it.”
Myles turns his attention to me. “You planned it?”
I nod. “Everyone was supposed to come over in a few hours.” I give Jace some side-eye. “But yes, I planned tonight.”
“What are we doing?” he asks, some excitement creeping into his voice.
“It’s a surprise,” I tell him.
He makes a face. “You’re really not going to tell me?”
“Nope.” I grin at him.
