S ara’s hands fumbled with the zipper on his jeans, and Levi brushed her clothes away.

In moments, they were naked and she was wrapped around him like honey. He sank with her on the big bed and she moved over him. Her long hair fell, cascading around him, licking at his skin like fire. Her hands ran over his chest, and he caught them and brought them to his mouth.

She gazed at him, her legs straddling his hips, open to him, and he cupped the back of her neck, drawing her mouth down.

He took her lips with an open, biting, and possessive kiss until she was undulating over him.

She reached between her legs and guided his dick into her hot, tight warmth.

Levi lost his reason to think about anything past this moment and just…let the world disappear.

Late morning light filtered through the slatted blinds and sent shadows over the cream-colored bedspread. The sun filtered over gray sheets and caught in Sara’s rich, dark curls.

Levi had been awake for several minutes and lay enjoying the hell out of watching her sleep. Her lashes were like dark crests against her cheeks, her lips were pale but lush, and he wanted to kiss her again.

He refrained from pressing his mouth to hers because he knew she needed sleep. And it wouldn’t matter how long she slept…he would wait.

This time, he wasn’t disappearing like he had before. This time, he would keep his ass put right there beside her.

He wanted no misunderstandings between them.

Sara shifted, and he held her tighter. She was wrapped in his arms where she had been all night.

He had been hungry, but then so had she, and his muscles were sore. He could only imagine hers had to be as well.

He was grinning like an idiot when her long lashes lifted and she gazed at him through sleepy green eyes.

“Good mornin’,” he said gruffly. Unable to wait a moment longer, he dropped a kiss on her lips.

“Hi,” she squeaked, blushed, and then dipped her head down and pulled the sheet up to her nose. Those gorgeous eyes gazed at him over the silk gray material.

“Hungry?”

She groaned and pulled the sheet up, covering her eyes.

He laughed loudly, he couldn’t help it.

“I meant for food. Your mind went to the gutter,” he teased her.

She huffed, giggled, and then lowered the sheet to her neck.

“I am starving.”

“Then let’s have breakfast together before we go question the perp.”

Her eyes widened. “Really? You’ll take me?”

“King gave his approval,” he grunted and shifted over to sit on the side of the bed.

“But you don’t want me to go?” She scooted over with the sheet wrapped around her naked form and sat beside him.

“Hell no. I don’t want you anywhere near that fucker.” He swallowed and shot her a quick glance to find her smiling. “What?”

She shook her head and dropped the sheet. Her breasts were displayed, and he looked his fill. She stood and bent over to pull on her panties.

He sat there stupefied, unable to look away from her curves until she was covered in her shirt and the sweat pants from last night.

“Coming?” She gave him a come-hither look over one shoulder, and he jumped up.

You bet your sweet ass he was coming. He wasn’t going to let her out of his sight. Now that she’d forgiven him for god only knows what, he was going to stick to her like glue.

He caught her hand and linked their fingers and pulled her back to him.

She eyed him, but came closer. She liked to play games, but he didn’t. She’d kept him at bay via anger, but now that she had given him the green light, he wasn’t going to let her slip away.

She was his.

Plain and not so simple. She might not know that yet, but she soon would.

They stepped out into the hallway, and she turned to him.

“Hey…I’m going to shower and change first,” she announced and stopped at the door to the room she shared with Ana and Carla.

“Me too,” he said gruffly. Loathed to leave her, but she made sense.

He sighed when she disappeared into the room and closed the door. Hauling ass back to his room, Levi showered and changed in record time.

He was back and leaning against the hall directly across from her room door when she emerged ten minutes after that. She had pulled on tight faded blue jeans, a pink sweater that matched the pink on her lips, and a pair of white sneakers.

She was hands down fucking hot. Absolutely gorgeous, and his pulse hummed just being near her.

He slid his arm possessively around her shoulders and kept her by his side as they entered the kitchen.

They drew several pairs of eyes, but Levi ignored them.

Sara, on the other hand, darted away from him, grabbed a plate from the stack on the counter, and hurried over to dish up a serving of eggs, bacon, and potatoes at the stove.

He lifted a plate and followed, waiting behind her, blocking the view of her ass from the rest of the room. He couldn’t be sure, but he thought he saw West take a look.

When Sara turned around, she handed him the plateful of food and took the empty one from him and started dishing up more.

She was serving his food. It was such a little thing, but he couldn’t stop the small puff of pride.

“Oooh,” West sang from his spot at the table, and Levi flipped the guy off with a scowl.

West cackled and went back to eating his food.

Rowan and King were already sitting at the table and eating as well, but there was no sign of Ana.

When Sara was done with filling the second plate, he took that from her and carried both dishes to the table.

Once she was seated, he returned to the counter and poured himself a coffee in a white mug and orange juice for her in a crystal glass. When he placed the juice by her plate and took a seat next to her, Sara gave a curious glance at the juice and back to him.

“I noticed you don’t drink coffee,” he said with a smile.

Sara gave a slight laugh and took several sips of the juice.

“Not like him,” West interjected with a grin. “Levi has caffeine running through his veins.”

“Stow it,” he grunted at West.

“You have stock in Folgers?” Sara teased, her green gaze dancing with laughter.

Levi laughed and shrugged. “No, but almost.” Levi aimed a glare at West. “You’re one to talk.”

West just snickered into his own cup of coffee.

“So how are we going to play this?” Rowan asked, drawing their attention.

“You talking about questioning the perp?” West asked, and when Rowan nodded, West continued. “We go in, get answers, and then go from there.”

“We can’t get answers the typical way,” King said with a stern look at West.

“Ooooh.” West’s eyes went wide and darted to Sara.

“What?” Sara asked around a bite of bacon. “You can’t beat them up, pull off their finger nails, or shoot them in the head when I’m there?”

Levi choked on a swallow of coffee and gasped for breath. Sara gently patted him on the back.

West lost it, he howled with laughter and pounded on the table so much so that Rowan lifted his coffee mug from the surface to keep it from sloshing over.

King smirked.

“Your world may be foreign to me, but I’m not naive.” Sara gave them a dry smile, her hand rubbing up and down Levi’s back. “I’ve been through some tough things and I’ve come out alive.”

“You mean what happened in Seattle?” Levi asked, clearing his throat.

“That and the attacks here…” She took a deep breath. “Plus, I was kidnapped when I was eight.”

Levi promptly took her hand. “I didn’t know that.”

“Yeah. They tried to get both me and Shane, but my brother got away. He was able to alert my family’s security, and I was recovered two hours later.”

“Are they dead?” Levi growled flatly.

“I don’t know,” she said, meeting his eyes. “I think so, though.”

“Good.”

“Anyway, my point is that I was raised in high-society with a buttload of money, and there were threats around every corner. I’m not a marshmallow.”

Levi leaned closer to murmur against the shell of her ear. “You feel like one.”

She giggled, then glared, then smiled and sipped at her juice.

“They whispered. I think we missed something,” West told Rowan with a grin.

“Ya think?” Rowan smacked West on the back of his curly dark hair.

The slender man only smiled and rubbed at the back of his head.

“It’s settled then. We’ll head over this afternoon,” King said and shoved from the table.

King’s phone rang, and the Aries leader frowned before speaking into it.

“King.” Whatever was being said on the other end had King’s mouth in a flat line and anger flashed in his storm-colored eyes.

“Got a handle on it?” King asked after several more moments. “All right, keep me posted.”

“Why afternoon?” Sara whispered to Levi as King wrapped up his call.

“It gives the perp time to wonder and suffer,” Levi whispered back.

“You guys are mean,” she said with a slight smile.

“He tried to take you, he’s lucky to be breathing,” he said gruffly.

She cupped the side of his face and rubbed her thumb along his jaw.

He had trouble swallowing his bite of eggs. He had trouble concentrating on eating breakfast when…

Her touch was all he craved.

Desperation turned his eyes back to King, otherwise, he was tempted to pick Sara up and carry her back to his room.

King pinched the bridge of his nose and shoved his cell phone away.

“What’s going on?” Levi asked.

“Sara’s attacker got away and stabbed Aiden in the process,” King said.

“How the hell is that even possible?” West asked, gaping at King.

“I don’t know, but Slade will hunt him down,” King said.

“Tell Slade not to kill him,” Levi said. He couldn’t help the growling order.

“Try telling Slade anything when it comes to someone hurting Aiden,” King responded.

“Well, shit,” Levi muttered.

“It’s okay,” Sara said, her voice low and soft. When she laid a hand on his arm, he pulled her close.

“Slade will get the guy.”

He didn’t make the promise lightly.

Slade would get the man who attacked Sara.

But Levi wasn’t sure that the guy would still be breathing.

Not once Slade got his hands on him.
