PIERRE

T he Mavericks made the Snow Classic this New Year’s Eve as the most wins, and we got home advantage, it means we have to cut our winter break short to play in it.

Harper, Felix, Sam, and Kimberly have flown back in from Christmas at Harper and Sam’s cabin in Aspen where Nate proposed to Camryn on Christmas day.

But they couldn’t wait, so Sam got ordained online and married them in the middle of a blizzard.

I was surprised it was Nate and Camryn getting engaged because I thought for sure my baby brother would have proposed.

We spent Christmas in Quebec with my mom, and Issy invited her sisters to join us.

She didn’t want to be apart from them as it was the first Christmas without their dad.

She also thought it might be better to be out of New York for the holidays due to the memories, which is understandable.

Mom was very happy to host the girls, as well as Collette and Joelle, who flew over from London.

There was a lot of screaming going on, but they were all happy so that was the most important thing.

There was a hell of a lot more screaming when Issy opened her Christmas present, and it was a key to our new home in Connecticut.

Felix delivered the same present to Harper for Christmas, too.

We asked Sam to help us both find a perfect home for our girls, seeing as he knows them so well, and Collette gave the homes a female check over to see if the girls would like them.

We are on the same street. The perfect place to bring up our kids together.

We found out later that both Sam and Nate bought houses in the next street over so that we could all be close to one another, our gang has become a little co-dependent.

It’s nice seeing Collette and Issy’s sisters become close.

I know she misses Joelle, but that is all about to change now that Joelle has got a job at The Mavericks as the team’s new physiotherapist. As much as she loved her life in London, she missed all of us, and who can blame her?

Our gang is a load of fun. Collette and Joelle live in the apartment that Felix and I were renting, which we ended up buying when the owners wanted to sell.

So, the St. Pierre family has taken over The Mavericks and New York.

Tonight, we won the Snow Classic, and we are headed to The Mavericks New Year’s Eve party hosted at one of the Rose hotels.

I asked everyone to stay back after the game, friends, family, and teammates.

Camryn and Kimberly have turned the outdoor rink into a winter wonderland while everyone else has been keeping Issy busy.

Felix is going to ask Issy to come to the rink to look for my lost glove, which I left in one of the boxes to get her out here.

All the lights are off, and it’s filled with nothing but candles along the red carpet out into the middle of the rink.

I see the moment Issy walks out dressed in the most gorgeous red evening dress and notices me standing in the middle of the rink surrounded by candles.

She gasps and tears start to fall down her cheeks, she looks so fricken beautiful.

My heart is thundering out of my chest and my hands are shaking as I watch her walk toward me.

When she is halfway down the red carpet, I fall to one knee, which makes her start sobbing.

“Hey,” I say, staring up at her.

“Hey, what are you doing?” she asks back.

“I’ve loved you already for a lifetime. And I was wondering if you would let me love you for another. Isabelle Sofia Alessi, will you marry me?”

“Yes. Yes. A million times yes.” She cries as fireworks launch into the sky.

I slide the three-carat diamond ring onto her finger, which fits perfectly. Then I stand up and kiss her.

“I love you, baby,” I tell her.

“I love you, too,” she says, still crying.

We watch the fireworks shoot off into the sky as the snow starts to fall, and we hear the screams from our families as they all rush toward us.
