“Maci, is it okay to talk to you in front of your daughter and husband?”
I nod because talking still isn’t easy for me.
He smiles a kind smile. “It looks as if your throat and esophagus were badly bruised and you have two crushed rips from being thrown into the wall. Your daughter was able to fill me in on everything that happened. A lot of the pain and discomfort you are feeling is going to go away in a couple of days.”
I nod and point to my wrist in hopes of him telling me how long I have been here.
He responds promptly. “Only a couple of days. You should be able to start speaking in the next day or two with caution. No joining any singing competitions.”
With that, he leaves and I’m left with Riley and Hawk.
Hawk kisses me again on the lips. “I promise nothing like this is going to happen to you again.”
