Remi

“She’s stable again. I don’t know what set her off, but I’m ordering round-the-clock monitoring for the next twenty-four hours. Jess, Solomon is barely hanging on. If he doesn’t get some sleep soon, he’s gonna snap,” Bones advised.

This was all my fault.

I caused this.

I shouldn’t have come.

Time moved on and now everything had changed. My sister was now married to the love of her life, and I prayed that all her dreams come true. She was innocent of this life. She never saw the darkness of this world, and I knew Solomon would make damn sure she never did. With him by her side, she would live a free and beautiful life.

I wanted that for her.

I really did.

Jess sighed. She looked so tired.

She needed to sleep herself. This life would chew her up and spit her out if she wasn’t careful.

“He won’t sleep, Bones. I had a bed brought in for him, but he refuses to use it.”

“Maybe we should sedate him,” Stitch muttered.

“You can’t do that.” I sniffed. “He’s afraid of needles.”

“How do you know that?” Jess asked curiously.

“Sunny told me. They had to get blood work done to get married. She had to hold his hand the whole time, and even then, the only way the nurse could get his blood was if Sunny sat in his lap.”

“What he needs is someone to sit with her while he sleeps. Someone he trusts,” Stitch advised.

“There isn’t anyone,” Savage stated. “Sandman doesn’t trust anyone where Sunny is concerned.”

“That’s not true. He trusts Jessica,” I whispered, looking at her, knowing Sunny didn’t need me anymore.

My sister belonged to Solomon now.

I guess deep down, I’d always known that.

“I saw the way he reached for you in there. He trusts you, Jess. If anyone can get him to sleep, it will be you.”

Standing there, Jessica nodded before she walked back into the room. The second she was gone, I turned to leave, pressing the down button on the elevator when I heard Savage.

“Remi?”

Shaking my head, I muttered, “I don’t belong here anymore, Savage. Take care of them for me.”

“Where will you go?”

“I don’t know.”

“Remi,” Savage said, taking my hand. “Your home is here with us. It always has been. Please come home.”

Hugging him once more, I looked up at him as tears rolled down my face. “I don’t have a home anymore.”

With that, I stepped into the elevator and watched the doors close, knowing this part of my life was finally over.

There would be no more clubhouses, no more brothers, no sisters, no more family. My life was now my own. What I did next was anyone’s guess. All I knew was that the world was a big place to get lost in and that’s exactly what I planned on doing.

As soon as I figured out what it was I wanted.

The car met me at the entrance of the hospital, and the second I slipped into the back, I said nothing while we headed for the airport.

When the car eventually stopped, I got out and walked over to the private plane waiting for me on the tarmac that belonged to Montana Stone.

He owed me.

They all did, and I planned on making them pay dearly.

Walking up the steps, I entered the cabin of the plane and sighed.

“What the hell are you doing here?”

“We need to talk.”

“About what?”

“Reaper.”

Taking a seat, I groaned. “Save it, Vicious. I already know everything.”

Leaning toward me, he sighed. “You only know what Montana wants you to know. He’s been lying to you, Remi. Has been from the beginning.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Well, for starters, I didn’t just leave the Golden Skulls to protect Linsey and the girls.”

Looking at him, I muttered, “Excuse me?”

“Reaper knew. He knew everything. He knew what the Soulless Sinners would do and they fucking did it. You know I was a nomad before I settled down with Elizabeth. What only Reaper and the officers knew was that I personally knew Montana. Not from being a biker, but from growing up in New York City. The social elite is a small group, Remi, and Reaper knew if he was going to catch the Soulless Sinners in a lie, he needed someone on the inside.”

“You.”

He nodded. “Yes. The night before your wedding, Maxim Fedorov and Montana Stone made a blood pact with Reaper.”

“I already know this, Vicious. Reaper agreed to lie low after the Golden Wedding while they took care of the Society . In exchange, Reaper agreed as long as they swore a blood oath to protect me.”

“You know Reaper better than anyone, Remi. Do you honestly believe your husband would sit back and let someone else determine your fate?”

He was right.

I knew Reaper wouldn’t sit idly by and do nothing.

It wasn’t in his nature.

“What aren’t you telling me, Vicious?”

“The night the Society fell, it wasn’t Fedorov or Stone who struck the killing blow. It was us. We did it when Sypher released the thumb drive to the authorities and it made worldwide news. You were there. You remember that night?”

I nodded.

I did. It was all over the news.

“They didn’t keep their word. They broke the blood pact when they failed to take out Petrovitch, the middleman and Baranov, the man who pulled his strings.”

Sighing, I closed my eyes.

“Max knew who my nightmare was all along, didn’t he?”

“Yeah, sweetheart, he did. Reaper knew all the players. Your man is very methodical when it comes to your safety. He left nothing to chance where you were concerned. Montana couldn’t let Reaper take down the Society all on his own. It would make him look weak at the table.”

“The table?”

“The head of all the underground organizations. Montana is the head of the Biker Federation. His word is law in the biker world.”

“That’s why he made a blood pact with Reaper.”

“Yeah, but Reaper knew the fucker had an agenda for agreeing and it had nothing to do with the Society or protecting you. The Golden Skulls were in the news. We were becoming something the Soulless Sinners couldn’t contain. Montana runs the biggest biker club in the world. We were small-time compared to that club. The Soulless Sinners couldn’t let a little nothing club show them up in front of the table. So, they inserted themselves as a way out.”

“But he wasn’t.”

“No. Montana cornered Reaper, giving him no choice when Satan’s Angels started causing trouble. Satan’s Angels were too big for us on our own. We knew that. So, the Soulless Sinners offered Reaper a way out.”

“At what cost?”

“The club.”

Shaking my head, I scoffed. “Bullshit. Reaper would never give that man the Golden Skulls. He’d die before he allowed that to happen.”

“You’re right. Montana knew that too, and because Montana was still blood bound by the pact he made, he couldn’t stand by and let Satan’s Angels destroy the club, not with you still in residence.”

Taking a deep breath, I sighed. “He set Reaper up, didn’t he?”

“Yeah, he did.”

“Why?”

“Because with Reaper dead, the Soulless Sinners could assimilate the Golden Skulls into their club. Reaper has been a thorn in the Soulless Sinners’ side for years, but they never could do anything because Reaper’s actions were always justified by biker law. The second you left, he won. All they had to do was sit back and watch Satan’s Angels destroy the club.”

“But that didn’t happen.”

“No, it didn’t. That’s why Reaper sent me to New York with Linsey.”

“He sent you to watch Montana.”

“No. He sent me to watch the Soulless Sinners.”
