The Grandparents (Nonno + Nonna)
The Parents
Leandro Taviani , 68 years old - making it past 60 in the mob is hard work and there’s a reason why Leandro survived so long. He’s brutal, ruthless, and holds everyone in the family to incredibly high standards
Barbara Amato Taviani, 63 years old - Leandro’s wife.
She is a proud New York Italian woman who loves the Yankees, her sons, baked ziti, and gardening.
Leandro met Barbara in Italy on a “business trip” and brought her back to America after a whirlwind romance.
She used to write poetry and study the English language in Italy, but she became a homemaker and Sunday school teacher in America
Elena Taviani Corsini, 60 years old - Leandro’s sister. She married his best friend Pino while she attended SUNY Oswego to study Education. A teacher in the Buffalo city school system, she refused to give up her job, regardless of her husband’s business success
Pino Corsini, 68 years old - Leandro’s best friend and the Buffalo mob underboss.
Leandro only trusts people from “the neighborhood” who grew up with him.
He trusted Pino enough to let him marry Elena.
He would trust this man with his life. Pino maintains loose ties to the brutal branch of his family that runs the Pittsburgh mob.
They understand Pino’s loyalty to Buffalo and Leandro, and they respect the truce.
Their most brutal disagreements remain caged to Bills vs. Steelers arguments.
Leandro’s Children
Luigi Taviani , 38 years old - Leandro’s eldest son. His investments include a few laundromats around Buffalo, NY as well as two apartment buildings. He never made it to university and joined the family business right away at 18 before expanding his own empire.
Angela Taviani , 30 years old - The eldest daughter sentenced to live with her eldest brother, the grumpy yet wealthy Luigi Taviani
The Twins
Renzo Taviani, 25 years old - Luigi’s twin brothers are currently away at business school in Italy, polishing up on their Italian language skills, learning what they need to manage Taviani businesses back home, and completing the occasional job for their father.
Gino Taviani, 25 years old - Luigi’s twin brothers are currently away at business school in Italy, polishing up on their Italian language skills, learning what they need to manage Taviani businesses back home, and completing the occasional job for their father.
The Youngest
Nicoletta Taviani, 23 years old - She is Leandro’s favorite daughter, a daddy’s girl all the way through until he discovers her big secret.
Pino & Elena’s Children
Michael Corsini, 40 years old - Elena and Pino’s eldest son, his closest friend in the family is Luigi Taviani.
They’re both tall, muscular, driven by their duties to the family, but Michael has lighter features than his cousin – aside from his deeply suntanned skin.
Michael loves gambling on football games, especially his beloved Buffalo Bills.
He has one eye from a “work related” accident, and when he’s in town, he and Luigi are “gym buddies” and work as the family muscle.
Peter Corsini , 35 years old - Michael’s younger brother, a huge fan of riding motorcycles and playing poker. He has an unruly temper and enjoys whiskey, hockey games, and long road trips.
Ruby Corsini, 28 years old - The eldest daughter in the Corsini family, her father wants nothing more than for Ruby to get married.
The Twins
Flora Corsini , 23 years old - Flora is the more mysterious twin sister, but she also has a secret. Not just from her family, but from her twin sister.
Cosima Corsini (“CC”), 23 years old - The rebellious twin daughter, hiding a major secret from her family pertaining to the US/Canada border. She loves art and painting, but her father forces her to study business or she won’t be allowed to go to college.
Other Characters
Rachel - 31 years old. She’s the bartender in the beginning of the book, who understands the power the mob carries in her city, but stays out of other people’s business.
Viviana Amato – 79 years old. Aunt Viviana is Luigi’s aunt who lives in Pittsburgh and remains a divorcee (three times). Her middle sister is Luigi’s mother and her youngest sister was married to Carmine Corsini before her passing.
Lewis – a secret from Angela’s past.
The Henchmen
Nick Caravello – 47 years old. The Caravellos are an associated family with the Tavianis and Corsinis. Nick Caravello was in the army until he had to retire because of an incident with an IED in Iraq.
Vinnie Doukas – 35 years old. A distant relative of the Doukas family from the Amalfi Coast Brotherhood series.
His mother left the Amalfi Coast after falling pregnant with a child for the powerful patriarch of the Doukas family.
As a child, he adopted his father’s last name and joined the powerful Taviani mob family, pledging allegiance to Leandro Taviani.
Danny Pirrone – 27 years old. Has a crush on the bartender, Rachel. He comes from a poor Italian family, but his mother was heavily involved in the Catholic church where she petitioned Leandro Taviani to help her son better himself. Quickly, Dannny found a job as the “muscle” for the club.
Paulie Gravina – 32 years old. Cousin to the right-hand man of the Pittsburgh mafia. He moved to Buffalo for work as a plumber and supplements his income doing various jobs for the Buffalo mob.
Sal Amato – 46 years old. He’s Barbara’s second cousin once removed who recently immigrated to America from Sicily. He works for the family while taking English classes in the evenings.
