Daniel was taken aback by the stunning young man. It was clear the boy was unwell, but it didn’t hide how beautiful he was. Golden hair and dark brown eyes, which expressed so much emotion. That boy had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and Daniel immediately wanted to ease his burden.

“I’ll see Daniel out, and then we’ll talk.”

“Who’s that?” asked Daniel as they walked towards the lifts.

“My assistant.”

“How old is he?”

“Twenty-five, why?”

“You asked what my type was. Well, it’s sitting outside your office. Is he on our bus? ”

“Please don’t fuck my assistant, Daniel.”

“Is he a bottom?”

“Strangely enough, that wasn’t one of the interview questions.”

“I bet he’s a screamer.”

“Oh my God. We can’t be having this conversation in my reception area.”

Daniel laughed. The lift opened and he shook Oscar’s hand. He glanced back at where Josh was sitting.

“You’re going to do whatever you want, aren’t you?” asked Oscar.

“No comment, Your Honour,” replied Daniel.

The lift closed, and he dropped the facade immediately.

There was something in Josh’s eyes that called to him, and Daniel hadn’t felt such an instant draw to someone in a long time.

He hoped Oscar was going to send the boy home.

He was clearly unwell, but from what he could pick up, Oscar hadn’t been expecting him to be there.

Daniel had an overwhelming urge to head back upstairs and offer to take him home and tuck him up in bed, but that would be creepy and set off a million red flags.

All he knew was that he wanted to get to know Josh, and he’d do whatever he could to make that happen.

Daniel lasted all of one day before he made his move on Josh.

He was near his office around lunchtime – coincidentally of course – and had seen Josh walking back from lunch with a colleague.

He was laughing at something she’d said, and it lit up his entire face.

How could someone be that stunning? It was clear he was over whatever sickness he’d had, which was all Daniel needed to know to make his move.

At four thirty, he was back waiting outside Josh’s office.

He’d thought of calling and speaking to Josh that way, but he could be far more charming in person, and it would be easier to read whether Josh was interested or not.

There was a twenty-year age gap between them, and although Daniel was repeatedly told he didn’t look his age, he wasn’t about to be dishonest with Josh.

It was just after five o’clock when he saw Josh leave the office, thankfully on his own. Daniel was well aware he was acting a bit stalkerish, but couldn’t help himself. There was a familiarity to Josh, but Daniel wasn’t sure what it was. All he could do was follow his instincts.

“Josh,” shouted Daniel as he approached.

Josh turned round with a puzzled look on his face. His eyes flashed in recognition, and his face flushed. That was interesting.

“Mr Harper, sir.”

Well, that honorific made Daniel’s cock plump, and he smiled at Josh as he approached. He appeared nervous, and Daniel wanted to put him at ease.

“Mr Montgomery has left for the day.”

“I wanted to talk to you, Josh.”

He looked surprised, and the blush brightened on his cheeks. God, he was beautifully adorable.

“What can I help you with, sir?”

Josh needed to stop using that term, or Daniel was going to be arrested for public indecency.

“I wanted to ask you out for a drink.”

Josh’s jaw hit the floor. Daniel couldn’t help but chuckle.

“You want to go for a drink with me?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Daniel laughed. “Because you’re hot.”

“What?”

Daniel moved closer. “I think you’re cute, and I’d like to take you out for a drink. That is if you don’t mind being company for an old man.”

“Pfft, you’re not old. ”

“I’m forty-five.” May as well get that out there now.

Josh’s eyes widened.

“Is that a problem?”

“No . . . no . . . not at all.”

“Are you sure?” Daniel wanted to be certain. Josh looked like the type who didn’t want to be rude or upset anyone.

Josh tried to look Daniel up and down discreetly. He needed to work on his subtlety. His tongue popped out as he wet his dry lips, and Daniel felt his cock plumping again. Perhaps he should have worn something more casual, but he knew he looked good in a suit. You had to play to your strengths.

“I’d love to have a drink with you. Shall I give you my number?”

“Or we could go now,” said Daniel with a smile.

Was he being pushy? Perhaps, but he was watching Josh closely and would know quickly if he was uncomfortable.

He wouldn’t be able to hide his true feelings well, not from Daniel who was good at reading people.

He had to be, with his job. It was important to know whether his clients were bullshitting him or not.

Josh was being hesitant, like he was struggling to decide.

“We could just have one drink, or we could exchange numbers and do something tomorrow?” Daniel wouldn’t wait much longer, not now he knew Josh was interested.

“Erm . . . I want to. I just . . .”

Daniel was puzzled over why he was struggling with a decision.

It intrigued and concerned him. The guy looked like he was carrying a lot of emotional baggage, and Daniel wanted to know what his story was, which surprised him.

He wasn’t an arsehole, but he was usually only interested in getting the guy under him.

He definitely wanted to fuck Josh – that wasn’t in question – but he also wanted to know all about him and remove that constant frown from his face.

“One drink, Josh. No pressure for anything else. ”

“I don’t have sex on the first date,” he blurted out.

Daniel was momentarily surprised. He noticed Josh was now looking like a beetroot. This shy guy was pushing all of Daniel’s buttons.

“Noted. I promise to keep my hands to myself.”

“I’m so sorry, Mr Harper, sir. I don’t know why I said that.”

“It’s fine, Josh. You were setting your boundaries, and I respect that. But please, call me Daniel. You can call me sir on our second date,” he said in a low voice.

Josh flushed again, and Daniel couldn’t help putting an arm round his shoulder. He tensed for a brief second, then relaxed.

“So, drink?”

Josh nodded. Daniel smiled. He let his arm drop away and asked Josh if there was anywhere he preferred.

“I don’t really know the bars round here. Happy for you to choose. Maybe somewhere we can at least get a seat.”

“I know just the place.”
