“Fuck every last one of you bastards. You bunch of assholes,” was out of Roscoe’s mouth no sooner than Preacher had finished speaking, and the control we were desperately holding onto collapsed, and laughter filled the air. “Laugh now, but it will happen to all your asses sooner rather than later.” That added statement from Roscoe cut the laughter right off.

Roscoe didn’t have that many years on me and the others who were sitting around him.

None of us said anything for a few minutes. I imagined the others were like me and prayed for many more years to pass before any one of us had to face the same decision as Roscoe.

“Ya know, I’m not ashamed to admit there are days I wish we were still the small club from the beginning,” Romeo said, bringing us back to the initial conversation about the club and off the depressing crap of aging.

“Well, it sure was a lot quieter back then,” Preacher added and grinned.

“Hell, I can’t remember what quiet is,” Flyboy replied just as laughter and yelling filled the air around us. Each of us turned toward the noise in time to watch a water balloon hit Luna’s shoulder and explode.

“For fuck’s sake, do those kids have death wishes?” I asked, not expecting an answer as we watched the start of a water war between the women and their sons.

“Never thought back in the day when the condoms had been tampered with that the end result would look like that,” Cruz said, lifted his chin to point toward the large group scattered in front of us, then he slid over to make room for Thelma when she approached with Willa, Sue, Shakes, and Claire. The five women had been in the clubhouse’s kitchen dealing with the food for the barbeque.

Thelma snorted as she and the other four women sat. “What makes you think it’s the end? They might not be done adding to their families. Maybe they are just taking a break.”

“Jesus, woman, bite your tongue. They need to be finished. As it stands now, the club doesn’t have to worry about recruiting new prospects anytime soon. It’s as if our boys are running their own MC farming program,” Cruz said.

I chuckled because Cruz really wasn’t far off with all the boys added to the families over the years. Crusher and Carly, along with Flirt and Brie, and Jag and River, had two boys each; Speed and Sami, Devil and Bailey, Ghost and Luna, and Coast and Mac added three sons a piece to the mix. Eighteen boys between the seven couples. It pretty much guaranteed Black Hawk MC’s survival for years to come. The only boy absent at the cookout was Tracker, who was currently entering phase four of the SFQC (Special Forces Qualification Course). He had joined the military right after he graduated high school. Now at twenty-two, he was the oldest of the grandchildren.

Flyboy, Romeo, Preacher, Cruz, Cutter, and I had come to Shades Valley after leaving the military with the intention of starting an MC. What it had grown into, though, exceeded our expectations in a big way. But our choice to step down out of the leadership roles when our boys began to find their way home after their own military stints had been the best decision for the club and them.

“I think you are forgetting about a few other children,” Willa said and touched my arm, bringing me from my thoughts.

“What, sweetheart?” I asked, then leaned closer and kissed her cheek. The pinkish blush that appeared on her cheeks made me smile. Even after several years together, she still was easily embarrassed at any level of affection displayed publicly.

“I think Willa’s referring to those four. When you men count, you always leave out the girls,” Sue said and drew everyone’s attention.

I looked to where she was pointing to see sixteen-year-olds Ally and Sawyer, stepping around the corner of the clubhouse with fourteen-year-old Neely and eleven-year-old Poppy bringing up the rear. Ally had the nozzle of a hose in her hand as Neely was unraveling it as they moved around the clubhouse. Once they reached the backdoor, Sawyer grabbed the nozzle to the water hose connected to the back wall while Poppy started uncurling it.

“Oh hell, I’ll tell ya right now nothing good is coming from that shit,” Roscoe said, and I had to agree as we watched Ally lean over and turn the knob that opened the flow of water. All four girls focused on the group, still running around screaming and laughing as water balloons were launched.

The water fight was raging with the boys ganging up on their mothers, soaking them while Crusher, Ghost, Devil, Speed, Jag, Flirt, and Coast cheered the boys on from the picnic table they sat around. Somehow the men seemed to have stayed dry through it all. Not one of them had a wet spot showing on any area of their clothing.

At least in that round.

“Think we outta give the boys a heads up?” Cruz asked and chuckled. “It would be the fatherly thing to do.”

“Probably would be considered the adult thing to do, too. But do you think they’d give us a warning if we were the ones who were going to be ambushed?” Flyboy asked.

Everyone was quiet as we watched the four girls move undetected toward their unsuspecting targets. By the time they received any notice as they dragged the hoses across the yard, the girls were almost in reach of their prey. With a few more steps, twin sprays of water were cut loose, and the yelling of curse words had everyone in the surrounding area turning in the table’s direction.

I shook my head and laughed with the others at the men who sat there with water dripping off them from the attack.

Ally and the other three girls dropped the hoses and doubled over laughing. When the men stood and started to move, the girls screamed and took off running.

“I swear, the four of them cause more trouble than the boys combined,” Claire spoke for the first time.

Shakes snickered, “That’s a fact. Just imagine them as grown women. The world better get prepared for the four of them to be cut loose in it.”

“World? We should be scared for the poor men who cross their paths,” Thelma said and laughed with the other women.

I looked at the women and men around me. “The thought of how much trouble those girls are going to stir up as adults is incomprehensible, but it’ll be fun as hell watching it play out.”

“While we are waiting for that to happen, anyone up for a little bet?” Dare asked.

“A bet on what?” I questioned.

“Even though Ally caused the cussing by hosing them. Anyone want to bet if she’ll make them pay for all the bad words they spouted?” Dale concluded, and the whole group howled until we were wiping tears from our eyes. I doubt anyone knew how much the girl had stashed.

Yes indeed, watching the next generation of the Black Hawk MC would be interesting.
