Page 26 of Final Temptation (Alpine Peak #2)
The Las Vegas Gods were smiling down on me. Granting Sophie and me one bed to share, in a place like Vegas? It was a recipe for a tragic rejection waiting to transpire, or a crazy, beautiful night only one could dream of happening.
My thumb brushed over the top of her chest. I couldn’t help the urge I had to sink my teeth into her, nipping and sucking at the area I claimed as mine. If she was going to walk around with her body on display while we were out, anyone who looked at her would damn well know who she belonged to.
A loud ring echoed throughout the hotel room, causing Sophie to jump.
Her hand grabbed at my hair, removing me from the hold my mouth had on her perfectly round tits.
“That’s my phone. It’s probably Paige. We were supposed to get changed and meet in the lobby to go to the pool.
” Her breath was labored as she reached for her bag to retrieve her phone.
The corner of my mouth ticked up at the frazzled sound in her voice when she answered her cell. “Yeah, yeah, we will be right down,” she told who I could only assume was my future sister-in-law.
Sophie ended the call, her chest rising and falling. My gaze wandered down her body at the red mark I’d left behind. Her eyes followed mine, gasping as she brought her hand up to the mark I made.
“How the hell am I supposed to wear my sluttiest bikini with this ?” I got off the bed, walked toward her, and bent down to kiss the mark lightly.
“You still do, Princess. The only difference is now you look like mine,” I whispered in her ear before retrieving my bag and heading into the bathroom to change for the pool.
We met in the lobby downstairs, and Sophie ordered an Uber to drive us the mile or so down the Strip to the Wynn.
The hotel we were staying at was beautiful, but it didn’t have a casino or a pool meant for partying.
She wanted to have a few surprises up her sleeve for Paige and Declan when it came to this trip, so venturing off to another location was ideal.
After checking in with the pool boys, they walked us to our cabana Sophie rented for the afternoon.
Paige and Declan led the way, looking happier than ever to get this party started.
We were here to celebrate them, and I had to admit, this was the first big life event or celebration I would have to do sober.
The thought had my stomach in knots.
I need Sophie more than I think she knows.
We all settled into the cabana, slipping off our shoes and swimsuit cover-ups, spraying sunblock on our exposed skin, and getting ready to dip into the pool.
Before we got too far, our cocktail server came over.
“Hi, my name is Avery. I’ll be your go-to girl today.
What can I bring you guys to drink? We also have a full-service food menu if you get hungry.
” She wore a little red bikini and sneakers, her dark wavy hair down, and her blue eyes vibrant.
The eye candy that any single guy in Vegas would drool over.
She was hot as hell, but she had nothing on the bubbly blonde to my right.
Old Myles would have taken the chance to flirt with her already, taking full control of the drink order to make myself stand out.
The new me? The sober me? I couldn’t stop thinking about when I’d get to touch Sophie again.
“We will take a bucket of waters, throw a couple of sodas in there, and a plate of chicken fingers. BBQ sauce, please!” Sophie ordered.
“You sure you don’t want a drink? I can handle myself,” I lied.
“Positive. We are all staying sober, remember? Plus, I need to make sure everything goes smoothly. I’m in charge of the itinerary.
” Vegas was meant to be wild, and Sophie was taming herself to help me out.
Her efforts definitely didn’t go unnoticed.
But I felt guilty for being the reason my brother and Paige had to dial down their experience.
“Yeah, make that enough for the four of us,” Declan told our server.
“You got it!” The brunette jotted down our order on her pad of paper, quickly turning on her heel to grab our drinks.
“Wait—” I called out. Before I addressed her, I nudged my brother. “Don’t worry about me. Sophie agreed to stay sober with me, but please, order a few drinks for you and Paige. It won’t be any different than bonfire nights.”
“You sure, man?” Declan questioned.
“Wait, Myles, are you sure?” Sophie grazed my arm, showing her concern at the same time as my brother.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it.” I swallowed thickly, answering them both.
“In that case, I’ll take a bucket of Coors Light,” Declan ordered.
“I would love some vodka seltzers. A variety of flavors is fine, I’m not picky,” Paige followed up.
“Perfect. Feel free to go out to the pool, and I’ll bring the drinks back here for you to come and go as you please.”
She walked away with a smile on her face, and when she was far enough away from hearing, Sophie said, “Fuck, she is so pretty. Does everyone here look like that?”
Paige and Declan were in their own world, with me being the only one to hear her comment. “She’s got nothing on you, Princess.” I winked, stripping off my shirt with one hand, leaving me half naked in my boardshorts.
“Yeah? You think I could get a job as a pool girl if I lived here?” She slipped out of the mesh fabric that tied around her waist, now standing in front of me in what looked like black dental floss.
The smallest damn string bikini I’d ever seen, and suddenly, I was thirsty.
So, fucking thirsty.
It left very little to the imagination for anyone around the pool who snuck a glance. For me, I knew exactly what was under the thin fabric; the only thing missing was knowing how she tasted and how hard her pussy could grip my cock.
I was lucky enough to get a taste of her from her finger, but it would never be enough. It wasn’t the real thing.
The water better be ice fucking cold. I’m going to need it, being around her for the rest of the day.
“Yeah, Soph. You’re a fucking knockout,” I said as she walked in front of me, her full ass on display.
The lovebirds were in the pool, just below the steps. When Sophie approached them, Paige hollered, “Ow! Ow!” as she fanned her face.
Sophie flipped her hair off her shoulders in each direction. “You like?”
“Uh, duh! But I don’t think I’m the only one obsessed with you in this pool.” Paige’s eyes drifted down Sophie’s chest, then made eye contact with me.
“Oh my God. See, Myles, I told you I wouldn’t be able to cover it up,” she said through clenched teeth, turning around and flicking water at me.
“That’s kind of the point, Princess.” I leaned against the edge of the pool with my arms out and an arrogant grin on my face.
“How about we give you guys a moment alone to talk this out. We’re going to grab a drink back at the cabana.” Declan pulled his bride-to-be into his chest as they walked out of the water.
“Didn’t you guys just get into the pool?”
“Are you complaining?” My brother chuckled as he continued toward the private cabana.
I’ve never complained about a moment alone with Sophie.
“You think you’re so smug, huh?” Sophie turned toward me, still too far away for my liking.
“Stop pretending you don’t like it. If you’re not going to drink this weekend, you can still lose control with me. I’m dying to know what you taste like, Soph,” I blurted out, taking full advantage of this moment alone with her.
“Not in front of them, we can’t.” Her gaze left me, drifting back to the cabana.
“Why is that? Cats out of the bag, remember? They already know something is going on with us, might as well have fun so we both aren’t playing third wheel.” I reached for her under the water, grabbing her hip and dragging her closer to me.
“I can tell you want it.” My hand ran over her hardened nipple through the skimpy little top I wanted to tear off with my teeth.
Goosebumps ran over her body at my touch. She moved closer to me, leaving our bodies hardly any room to breathe. “Maybe if you’re a good boy, I’ll let you taste me later,” she whispered in my ear as she started to loosen up.
“You better not be teasing me. I’m already struggling with all the booze around me, I’d hate for you to get my hopes up, only to let me down later.” Her face softened at my omission.
“You’re having a hard time?”
I didn’t mean to slip up, in my head it sounded a lot different than it did out loud.
Swallowing thickly, my hands resting on her hips, I answered, “A little bit. Nine months sober doesn’t mean I’m out of the woods.
Somedays it's easier than others. But I’m picking up on things I don’t normally see at home,” I pointed across the pool, “like that, over there. That guy is taking a body shot off his girl, and it has me craving what tequila would taste like dripping down your body.” Fuck, I knew it would taste amazing—the two things I couldn’t seem to stop craving lately.
The sexy girl in my arms and the temptation of tequila.
Sophie gripped each side of my face, forcing my eyes to focus on her. “Turn it off, Myles. Turn it all off and focus on me. I’ll do anything I can to take away your cravings. I’d never forgive myself if I planned this whole trip and you relapsed.”
“Anything?” I swallowed.
“Anything, Myles. I’m passing you the ball now, it’s in your court.
Use me however you please. Do what you need to do, Rebel.
” My heart sped up. She had no idea how badly I needed to hear that; how desperate I was for control.
I didn’t have to sit here and fight off every demon that walked my way.
She let her guard down and offered me the ultimate distraction, even if it meant she’d be hurt in the end.
Her hands fell from my face and wrapped around my neck, her tits pushing against my wet skin. My hands hooked under her legs, wrapping them around my body.
She was practically floating; she was so light in the water.
