Page 22 of Fever: Love In Scrubs

We disconnected the call, and I looked up to see my cousin and Asia grinning at me.

“Y’all are so cute,” Tinka said. “I can’t wait to see this in person.”

Asia giggled. “According to my niece, it’s just as adorable. Y’all ready to go?”

“Ready!”

We grabbed our essentials and headed downstairs. As we stepped outside, we noticed a blacked-out Escalade sitting in front of the house. A handsome black man dressed in a suit was standing outside the back passenger door.

“What is this?” I asked, approaching him.

“Good evening, ladies. My name is Dean. Mr. Pierre hired me to drive you all tonight. Whatever you need, I’m at your disposal.”

“Not he sent a car for you!” Tinka exclaimed.

“Oh, he’s pulling out all the stops,” Asia said. “Thank you, Mr. Dean!”

He smiled as he opened the back door and extended his hand to let each of us in. Settled in our seats, Dean handed the aux cord to us.

“Oh, Dean, we’re about to have it lit in here,” Tinka said, snatching it. “I hope you like trap music.”

Dean chuckled. “I’ve listened to a little of everything in this line of work. Have at it.”

While she searched for the music, I pulled out my phone to text Jaxson.

Me: You did not have to send a car for us, sir.

Dr. Bae: I know, but I wanted you all to have a good time without worrying about how you’d get home if you got fucked up.

Me: Thank you, baby.

Dr. Bae: Baby? I like the sound of that. I need to hear that in person.

Me: LOL. I’ve got you.

Tucking my phone away, I tuned in to the song selection. Tinka and Asia were already dancing and rapping along, forcing me to join in. Tonight was going to be a good night.

CLUB REIGN

Club Reign was packed, and I was so happy Asia had gotten us a section.

I’d yet to experience night life in Silver Run like this.

Sure, I’d somewhat explored the new parts of the city, but I was always in my house by eight and in bed by nine most of the time.

This was different and a tad bit overwhelming.

“It’s lit in here!” Tink said.

“Always!” Asia answered, squeezing a lemon onto the back of her hand before sprinkling salt on it. She picked up a shot and held it up. “To forming new and beautiful friendships.”

Tinka and I followed her lead with the lemon and salt before picking up our shots and clinking our glasses with hers. The tequila was strong but went down pretty smooth.

Asia turned to us. “I’m really happy we are getting to know each other, Wynter.

Things were never this smooth with Dela, even in the beginning.

Something about her always rubbed me the wrong way.

My brother seemed happy, so I let it go.

When she cheated on him, the only thing saving her from this ass whupping was my niece. ”

Tink shook her head. “Kids spare many bitches from getting touched. If that was my brother, I’d whip her ass and apologize to my niece later.”

“Oh, don’t worry. After that shit she pulled with my niece, it’s smoke in the air. When I see her, it’s flames. Don’t let the cuteness fool you. I can get down with the best of them.”

“I hear that,” Tinka said, pouring another shot. “We’re gonna sit pretty, though. Well, not right now. The DJ is playing my shit and I’m ready to shake my ass.”

She tossed back her shot and stood to her feet.

Asia and I followed suit, following her out to the dance floor.

“I Got Questions” by Ken The Man was blaring through the speaker.

Me and the girls were on the dance floor rapping and dancing along.

When the song faded out and “Down For My Niggas” by C-Murder came on, it was like a national anthem.

People were playfully bumping each other while they danced and rapped along to the lyrics.

Tinka and I hit the handshake we created as kids before breaking into a fit of laughter.

I loved having her here. It was just like old times when she used to drag me out of my house.

We were so caught up dancing and having a good time, that I was caught off guard when someone roughly bumped into me.

“Excuse you!” I said over the music.

I turned to see Amadela along with two of the women that had dragged her away at the burger and wing spot. She smirked as she folded her arms.

“Maybe you should move that wide load off the dance floor.”

“Bitch, who the fuck you talking to?” Tinka asked, staring at her.

“Oooo! You have your ghetto security tonight. I’m so scared.” She laughed. “Ugh. I don’t know what my baby daddy sees in you. Just another fat bitch.”

I chuckled. “A fat bitch that he can’t get enough of. He surely didn’t mind this fat bitch when he was balls deep in this fat pussy. Please come up with a new insult because this same fat bitch seems to have you pressed.”

“Pressed? Girl, please. Jaxson can do better. He’s had better.”

“If being a cheating, thieving bitch that allows a grown ass man to walk around naked while your child is present is better, then thank God that’s not me. Unlike you, I don’t condone pedophile ass behavior, bitch.”

“You need to watch your fucking mouth when you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I’m sorry, did that strike a nerve?”

She went to say something when out of nowhere, Asia came through and decked that bitch right in her face. We hadn’t even seen her slip off her heels or pull her hair up.

“I owed you for that one, bitch!” she yelled, throwing another punch. “You think you’re gonna fuck with my brother and my niece and not have to see me!”

Tinka and I grabbed her, to hold her back. For someone so little, she had a lot of power behind her. Amandela was holding a now leaking nose and mouth, shocked that she’d been hit. When she tried to get at Asia, her friends held her back.

“Let me the fuck go!” she yelled.

At this point, we had a crowd of people. I could see security struggling to get through the mass of people.

“She’s not worth it, Asia,” I said in her ear.

“She ain’t ever been worth shit! Pussy ass bitch!”

She used me and Tinka for leverage and kicked Amandela in the face, sending her and her friends to the floor.

“Oh shit!” Tinka exclaimed. “Girl, let’s get this ninja the fuck up outta here.”

We disappeared into the crowd to grab our things.

This was the one time I was glad for a packed club.

Because of all the people, by the time security reached Amandela, we were walking out the front and running over to the Escalade.

We didn’t wait for the driver as Tinka pulled the door open and jumped in with Asia and I behind her.

“Back to the house, Dean,” Tinka said.

“Yes ma’am.” He cranked up and pulled into traffic. “Everything okay?”

“Fuck no,” Asia spat. “That block head bitch made me hurt my hand.”

“Nobody told you to be Layla Ali, girl,” I said, checking her hand over. Her knuckles were already starting to bruise.

“Forget Layla Ali. She must have thought she was Chuck Norris with that kick,” Tinka said, stifling a laugh. “Remind me not to get on your bad side.”

Asia laughed. “I don’t fight often, but about my family, it’s always smoke.

She played in my brother’s face for too long and now my niece is directly involved in her shit.

Don’t worry, Wynter. One of those licks was for you too.

Not calling my future sister in-law a fat bitch.

Bitch wished she had titties like these. ”

When she tried to motorboat my breasts, I squealed, making all of us laugh. I could tell I was going to love her.

“When we get back to this house, we’re just gonna have to pick up our turn up where it left off.”

“Hey, Dean!” Tinka called.

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Can you take us by the best liquor store around here? I’m trying to be white girl wasted.”

Dean chuckled. “I got you.”

Our night out might have ended earlier than expected with that bang, but it didn’t have to be over.
