Page 104 of Faking it with the Billionaire
Bristol and Liam seem to be warming up to each other. At least they don’t fight in school anymore, and while they’re not best friends, they’re getting along. I’ll consider it a win.
“Jasper’s coming by,” Kyler says. “He met a girl and wants us to meet her.”
My eyes light up. “Oh, is he asking us for our approval?” I can’t help but feel a little bit giddy that Jasper has found a girlfriend. He’s Kyler’s brother and is like family to me. He deserves to be happy.
“Something like that. Do you want to put on dessert—on second thought, how about I do the food prep, and you pull out the dishes.”
“Are you saying that I can’t make dessert? It just has to go in the oven,” I say.
Lia made several peach pies from scratch during the summer. We froze a few of them.
“Yes, and I’m not taking a chance that you’ll burn it, M&M. I love you, but your cooking leaves much to be desired.”
I grab the dish towel and smack him on the ass with it.
He yanks the towel, pulling me toward him as he spins around to face me. “Are you seriously trying to spank me?”
My lips part, and I laugh nervously. “What are you going to do about it?” I taunt.
Kyler drops down on one knee and pulls a ring box out of his left pocket.
I clasp my hands over my mouth as I stare down at him. “Kyler?”
“We didn’t do this the right way last time. When I asked you to be my wife, it was entirely for selfish reasons. I had feelings for you, but they weren’t anything close to what they are now, M&M.”
“No.”
“What?”
“You are not proposing and calling me M&M.” I grin. “Continue, but with my real name.”
He snorts. “Emerson Ryan, will you do me the honor of being my wife?” Kyler flips open the blue Tiffany’s box and shows me the diamond engagement band.
My knees wobble, and the air suddenly leaves my lungs. It takes too much energy to stand, and my legs give way. I drop down to my knees, shocked. His arms reach out, catching me, pulling me onto his lap. “You’re not supposed to be down on your knees too, babe,” he says and kisses me.
“You’re going to give me a heart attack.” I laugh, resting my hand on his chest.
“Me? You’re the one telling me no mid-proposal.” The smile never leaves his face.
I lean in and brush my lips over his. “I’d never tell you no. Just don’t call me M&M, babe.”
“But it’s a term of endearment,” Kyler says. With one hand around my hips, he nestles me on his knee. He shows me the ring. “Will you be my wife?”
“Yes.” I give him my hand, and he slides the engagement ring on my finger. It’s a perfect fit.
The front door swings open, and my lips are locked on Kyler’s, not paying the least bit of attention to the arrival of our guests. I know they’re here, but I honestly don’t care.
Jasper clears his throat.
“Maybe we should come back,” a female’s voice chimes, and I recognize that voice. I’d recognize it anywhere.
“Amber?” My eyes widen, and I nearly tumble off Kyler’s lap as he pulls me to my feet to stand.
I’m trying to comprehend how this happened. When did they meet? How?
My mouth must be hanging open because Kyler glances at me and smiles before reaching a hand out to introduce himself to Amber. At least, that’s what I think he’s about to do.
“It’s good to see you again,” he says.
