He claims that her king is responsible for the carnage and is sacrificing his own subjects so he can summon a demon to aid him in his war of conquest. Once she arrives at the palace, Nerys must navigate a betrayal-ridden court and the vicious world of unseen spirits in order to get close enough to the king to kill him. If her assassination attempt fails, not only is her life forfeit—the kingdoms will be plunged into a demon-fueled war that will tear what is left of her kingdom apart.
