Chapter Twenty-Four
Ashton
A smile fell upon my lips as I watched her run up the stairs.
The struggle to keep this feeling inside me under control was failing.
I felt as if I was losing the war between my brain and my heart.
I barely knew Charlotte, but it didn’t matter.
For some strange reason, I’d felt like I’d known her all my life.
As I was pondering my thoughts, my phone rang, and my mother’s picture appeared on the screen.
“Ciao Madre.”
“Ciao, darling. How are you?”
“I’m good. How are you?”
“Fabulous as always. I wanted to let you know that Raphael and I are flying to New York tomorrow. We’ll be staying for about two weeks. Raphael has some business to attend to there.”
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“So tell Eloise that her Gigi will see her soon.”
“Uh, Mom. You should know that Dad is in New York. He’ll be here for a while.”
“What is he doing there?”
“Visiting.”
“Now the city has really gone to hell if the devil himself is there.”
“Mom, come on.”
“It’s the truth, and you know it, Ashton. Our flight gets in tomorrow afternoon. Make sure you’re available at six o’clock for dinner. Raphael already made reservations.”
“It’s a school night for Eloise, Mom.”
“We won’t be out late. I’m excited to see both of you, and I won’t take no for an answer.”
“Is it okay if I bring my nanny along?”
“Maura? I don’t think she’d want to come. Besides, there’s something about that woman I don’t like. I’ve told you that before.”
“Maura quit and moved back to London. Charlotte is Eloise’s new nanny, and Eloise loves her. She’ll want her to come.”
“Oh, then by all means, bring the nanny, Ashton. Ocean Prime at six p.m. I have to go, love. I’ll see you tomorrow. Love you to the moon and back.”
“Love you too, Mom.”
I ended the call and sighed. It was getting late, and I was tired. Getting up from the couch, I went upstairs and knocked on Charlotte’s bedroom door.
“Come in.”
“Hey.” I smiled as I walked into the room.
“Hey, yourself.”
“I just received a phone call from my mother. She and Raphael are flying to New York tomorrow and want us to meet them at Ocean Prime for dinner.”
“Me?” She pointed to herself.
“Yes. I told her Eloise would want you there. Is that a problem?”
“No. Not at all. But, does she know your father is in town?”
“I had no choice but to tell her. She said the city really went to hell since the devil himself is here.”
“Ha. I love her already.” She grinned. “I’d be happy to go. But remember, Eloise has dance after school tomorrow.”
“Shit. Dance ends at five o’clock, right?”
“Five-thirty,” she said.
“Reservations are at six o’clock. Make sure to pack an extra set of clothes tomorrow for Eloise, and we’ll pick you both up at the dance studio.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
I stood and stared at her for a moment. All I wanted to do was walk over to where she sat on the bed and smash my mouth against hers. But I’d been out of control lately, and I needed to tame the wild beast.
“Okay. Sleep tight. I’m heading to bed.”
“Good night, Ashton.”
“Good night, Charlotte.”
I was sound asleep when I heard my bedroom door open and the sound of little footsteps shuffling across the floor.
“Dad?” She shook my shoulder
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?”
“I had a bad dream. Can I sleep with you? Please, Dad. I went to Charlotte’s room, and she’s not in there.”
Instantly, my brows furrowed.
“Climb in.” I sat up.
“I want Charlotte, too. Please, Dad. I can sleep between both of you. Where is she? Did she leave?”
God, it was the middle of the night, and it was too late for this.
“I’ll go see where she is.” I climbed out of bed and walked out of the bedroom. Walking down the stairs, I flipped the light on in the kitchen.
“Jesus, Ashton!” Charlotte jumped. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“Why are you standing in the kitchen in the middle of the night in the dark?”
“I woke up and was really thirsty, so I wanted a bottle of water.” She held up the bottle. “Why are you up?”
“Eloise came running into my room. She had a bad dream and wants to sleep with both of us in my bed.”
“Huh? Seriously?”
“Yes. So, it looks like you’re sleeping in my bed tonight.”
“If you say so.”
We went upstairs, and Eloise was sitting up with her knees to her chest.
“Dad, you found her!”
“I was just getting a bottle of water,” Charlotte told her. “I heard you had a bad dream.”
“Uh huh.” She nodded.
“Okay. Let’s get settled so we can go back to sleep,” Charlotte said, climbing into bed.
I lay down, Eloise snuggled between us, and stared at Charlotte. This felt wrong on so many levels, yet it felt so right. I reached over, turned the light off, closed my eyes, and drifted off to sleep.
The alarm jolted me out of a dream I was having about Charlotte. Reaching over and shutting it off, Eloise stirred, and Charlotte opened her eyes.
“I’m going to take a shower,” I whispered.
I hurried and climbed out of bed to conceal my hard-on.
That dream had me all fired up for Charlotte.
After taking a shower, I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked into the bedroom.
Eloise was sound asleep, and Charlotte was gone.
So, I walked down to her bedroom, stepped inside, and found her standing in front of the mirror in her bathroom.
“Hey.” She smiled, looking at me through the mirror.
“Morning.” I gripped her shoulders from behind and pressed my lips against the side of her neck. “You don’t mind, do you?”
“Not at all.” She tilted her head to give me better access.
I ran my hand down her torso and then up her nightshirt.
Pushing her panties over, I dipped a finger inside and wouldn’t stop until she came.
Lifting her nightshirt over her head, I removed the towel from my waist and took her from behind, watching in the mirror as I thrust in and out of her.
She felt incredible, and this was exactly what I needed to start my day.
Her hands gripped the edge of the sink, while my hips thrusted back and forth.
Our soft, but pleasurable moans were in sync with each other’s, and before I knew it, she orgasmed, forcing my cock to erupt like a volcano.
Leaning in, I buried my face in her neck, waiting for my heart to calm.
“Now that’s a good morning,” she said.
“It sure is.” I kissed her neck, pulled out of her, and grabbed the towel from the floor.
“Can I finish getting ready now?” A smile graced her beautiful face.
“You may.” I smiled, walking out of the bathroom and heading back to my bedroom.
When I stepped into the bedroom, Eloise was sitting up, rubbing her eyes.
“Why are you walking around the house in just a towel?” she asked.
“Uh, I wasn’t walking around the house. I used the shower in your bathroom so I didn’t wake you up,” I lied.
“Where’s Charlotte?”
“She’s getting dressed. And you need to do the same.” I smiled. “Do you feel well enough to go to school?”
“Yes.” She climbed off the bed.
“Guess what?”
“What?” She turned and looked at me.
“Gigi and Raphael are flying into the city today. We’re meeting them for dinner after you finish with your dance class.”
“Yay! Now both my grandparents will be in New York!”
As excited as she was, I wasn’t. Having the two of them in the same city, even for just a day, was a recipe for disaster.
