Page 107 of Die for You
Literal blood smeared the glass where Damien crushed one of their defensemen, and we had to stop playing long enough for it to be cleaned up.
Luke is impenetrable in front of the net. The Lions haven’t scored a single goal, and the minutes are ticking down.
Our last game of the season and no doubt our best. The Devils are going out with a bang.
She has something to do with it too. Aurora. Eyes trained on us from the bleachers. Our lucky charm. Our angel.
She loves me. She fucking loves me, and I’ve never felt better in my life than when she whispered those words. Haven’t come down from the high since. No surprise this is the best I’ve ever played.
When Knox smacks the puck at our opponents’ net, we collectively hold our breath. One last chance to score before we’re out of time.
My heart ricochets in my chest when the puck hits the post.
But it slips past the goalie’s gloved hand and sails in.
The entire rink thunders. Whoops, cheers, shouts, screams. Our best game, our season, our team as we know it—over.
And we made it fucking count.
Ryder, our rising star, slams into me chest first, stick raised in the air as he hollers. Damien and Knox do the same, followed shortly by Luke. All of us red-faced, sweaty, victorious.
Coach loses his shit like he’s the one who scored the final goal, and in the stands, Sienna and Juliet cheer on one side of Aurora. On the other is Quinn, jumping to her feet and clapping. Surprisingly into a sport she’s never shown any interest in before.
After a lap around the ice, we’re still celebrating when we leave the locker room.
Quinn waits for me with a big goofy grin, her hands signing animatedly. It was so hot when that guy started bleeding.
Do you have a blood kink?Aurora lifts an amused brow at Quinn, and my sister’s mouth falls ajar.
Aurora throws her arms around my neck and squeals. “You didamazingout there, Finn!”
When she pulls back, she signs with her hands.I’m so proud of you.
I squeeze her to me. As tight as I can without hurting her. The honey scent of her envelops me, and I hope I lose myself in it every day for the rest of my life.
She’s proud of me. She loves me. Even if the whole world burned down around me, I’d have that.
Her.
I’ll be proud of you when you hook me up with your teammate. Quinn nods at Ryder, beaming as he receives praise from Coach, teammates, and fans.
Aurora waggles her brows at my sister. “Someone has a crush.”
With her hands, Quinn corrects her.Someone has a major hard-on.
Aurora’s brows furrow in mock confusion and she glances down between my legs.
Quinn swats at her. “Gross!”
But they both burst into a fit of giggles, and my heart has never been fuller.
My sister throws an arm over Aurora’s shoulders, but she directs her smile at me.Actually, I’ll be proud of you when you make this one my sister-in-law.
Chapter 26
Aurora
The Devils aren’tblackout drunk, but by the time we stumble through the door at one in the morning, they’re well past buzzed.
