Page 67 of Devious Love
The laugh that escapes me echoes down the hall. “You know, the more you say that, the harder it is to believe.” I take a step closer. “Why did you accept a drink from that asshole?”
“I didn’t. Jeff and Tessa were with us, but she felt sick, so they left. I thought it was her drink.”
A mix of frustration and straight-up fear rushes through me. Fuck. That’s even worse.
“What if it had been spiked? Did you consider that?”
“I had no intention of drinking it. Who do you think I am?” She glares at me. “We were headed to the dance floor when they approached us, and that’s when he said he bought it for me.”
“And you stood there talking to him instead of sending him packing right away? Why?”
She stiffens but holds her ground. “Maybe I liked the attention.”
Fury rushes through me. Wrong fucking answer.
I step into her space even more, forcing her back against the wall. “Bullshit,” I murmur.
She lifts her chin, her dark blue eyes burning with anger. “Not everything is about you, Dominic. I had no idea you’d be here, and I didn’t need your help.”
I press my hands to the wall on either side of her head, caging her in, then duck so we’re eye to eye. “Say you didn’t like it,” I challenge her. “Say it didn’t turn you on when I stepped in.”
Her lips part, but no sound comes out, and her attention drifts to my mouth, the delicate column of her throat working as she swallows.
That’s all it takes to send what little willpower I’ve held on to for the last three days packing. I grab her arm and pull her into the single-stall bathroom then throw the lock. When I press her up against the door, she gasps.
We stare at each other, both panting. If I go any further, there will be no coming back, but fuck if I don’t want to kiss her.
I don’t know who moves first, but before I can even blink, our mouths collide. The kiss is hard and hungry, all passion and no restraint. She fists my hoodie, yanking me closer, molding her body to mine.
The connection is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. It’s teeth and tongues battling each other; it’s desire and the primal need to please. I deepen our kiss and grip her hips hard, pulling her into me and grinding my erection against her belly.
Her body arches into mine, and she moans into my mouth.
Fuck.
I could take her right here, right now. I have no doubt she’d let me. She’d be screaming my name in a matter of minutes as she came on my cock. I could do all that and so much more, but I won’t.
Not like this.
With a groan, I break the kiss and press my forehead to hers. We stay like that, neither of us speaking, our breaths coming fast. When she tries to pull me back into her, I shake my head and tighten my grip on her hips.
“Why did you stop?” she breathes.
Exhaling, I release her and back away. It’s fucking painful, the emptiness overwhelming me now that she’s not in my arms. “We need to talk first.”
Expression unreadable, she studies me. Then, without a word, she whirls around, throws the door open, and bolts out of the room.
Jesus Christ, she’ll be the death of me.
I brace myself over the sink and look at my reflection. My heart’s pumping, a vein in my temple pulsating.
I’m going to hell for what I did tonight, but truthfully? I don’t fucking regret it.
