Page 32 of Devil's Property
A slow and easy smile crossed his face, one of knowing as if the man could see right through me. He lifted his hips so only the tip remained inside, dropping down and plunging into me again.
A slight gasp finally rose from my throat, the strangled sound fueling the fire within him.
As he developed a furious rhythm, I squeezed my muscles even as confusion kept me tense. How could I want something so desperately wrong, depraved in a way that I’d undoubtedly regret?
Prickles appeared on my skin as he pumped long and hard, grinding against me in a way that excited my clit. There was nodenying the pleasure or the connection we had, no making sense of that after hating someone so innately I’d wanted him dead.
Yet now I craved what only he’d managed to provide.
A deep awakening of a hunger I’d never thought would be satisfied.
Was I thinking too philosophically? Was I attempting to find an excuse for my horrific behavior? Maybe so, but at this moment, I just didn’t care if I was enamored by a predator.
“Oh…” I blew out, the vibrations increasing immensely as the sound of his hard body slamming into mine clouded my mind.
He chuckled darkly and pressed his face against my neck. The roughness of his facial hair increased the sensations, keeping me breathless. He nipped my ear, whispering something I didn’t understand.
When he lifted his head again, the darkness of his eyes had given way to a strange yet beautiful luminous glow. Perhaps my mind was playing tricks on me since I was lost in a haze of electric rapture.
I hadn’t set out to seduce the man tonight, although I’d realized my only method of getting close was pretending that I was attracted. Only now, all I’d done was lie to myself. He was more than just attractive. His allure was a powerful draw, a tether that frightened me more than the man himself.
There was no controlling my body or intensity of my reaction as a climax rolled into my system.
He pulled back, studying me with ferocious obsession.
With my eyes half closed, I was swept away for a few precious seconds. The ache in my pussy increased, the fire in my core uncontrollable.
As I slipped down gracefully from the high, he thrust harder. Deeper. The clash of his earlier tenderness and the rough way he was taking what he wanted had been something I’d craved long before I’d met him.
His jaw was clenched as he pounded into me. As his body tensed, I pressed my knees against him.
Very slowly he lifted and tilted his head, finally capturing his own moment of rapture.
Seconds later, he lowered his head, freeing his hold yet remaining peering down at me.
My breathing still ragged, I swept my arms across the small bed and tried to catch my breath.
With one deep exhale, he rose from the bed. I rolled over on my side, staring at the open door as I wondered how in the hell I’d gotten here. More important, why had I allowed my guard to fall around a man who could easily choose to end my life?
As he might have done to my sister?
As he might have done with my mother?
No, he’d been too young, too kind. Too… It wasn’t possible.
There were no decent answers, no rationalization that would soothe the anger I was feeling for myself.
Navarro said nothing just like before, fixing his clothes and fastening his belt before heading to the door. He stood in thedoorway for several seconds, finally raking both hands through his disheveled hair. Then he left without looking back.
And I heard the click of the lock.
A slow exhale escaping, I closed my eyes.
While I loathed the man, I had a feeling what he’d told me before was correct.
Whether I liked it or not, he could be the only person who could help me find my sister before it was too late.
But if he did, what then? Would the past continue to haunt us? Would I be forced back into a life I no longer knew, understood, or cared to revisit?
