Chapter Five

W aking up in Jacob’s bed was bliss.

I hadn’t had a boyfriend in over a year, and I’d forgotten the sheer comfort of sleeping and waking up next to someone you were comfortable with. It occasionally happened with hookups, but then a lot of awkward good-byes and leaving were exchanged. Yet this wake-up was nothing like that. Jacob would have to literally kick me out this weekend if he wanted me to leave. Because now that I’d found out he fucked like a beast and snuggled like a dream, he wasn’t getting rid of me.

His heavy arm was slung around my waist, and he’d kept me warm all night, wrapped around me from behind. His lips brushed against my nape, and a thrill rose inside me.

“Hey, gorgeous.” I ground my ass against his nice and stiff morning wood. Mmmph, god. The velvet feel of his length pressed right between my cheeks was addictive.

He nipped my lobe. “Quit it unless you want to find yourself on your back with my cock inside your pretty hole.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” I rubbed my ass against his cock.

He squeezed my cheek.

“Harder.”

“God, you’re going to be a handful,” he said, amusement in his tone. He squeezed my ass again. “Already are.”

“As long as I’m yours.” The words came out a little more hesitant in the morning light. The second I’d realized he was the secret admirer, I’d flung myself into this, but all the events of yesterday were finally catching up with me. What if I was falling too fast, too hard? What if now that he had the reality, he wouldn’t want me?

“Hey, turn around.” He gave me a slight nudge to the side.

I shifted so we faced each other, and our eyes met.

The bit of doubt quieted the moment I saw his face.

The sheer affection on his features erased any fears.

“Henry, I’ve been smitten with you for a while now,” he said. “Every damn thing I wrote in those notes was true. How you light up the room, how you’ve captured my attention from the first day I met you. And I love your enthusiasm, your ridiculous rambling, your sass and attitude. So yeah, you’re mine for as long as you’ll have me.”

My throat tightened. Fuck. He was the damn sweetest.

“And you’re mine too,” I whispered, my heart thudding as hard as a snare drum.

He leaned in and brushed his lips to mine, and I sank into the taste of him, the comfort, the way he lit me on fire. When he pulled away, a smile played on his lips that made me want to kiss him all over again.

“You’re going to regret this Monday when I’m disgustingly PDA at work,” I said.

Jacob snorted. “Bring it on.”

Gratitude seared into me. The loneliness had been getting the better of me lately, and Jacob had come in and chased it all away. As much as the idea of a secret admirer had thrilled me, and the guessing had been fun, the reality was so much better.

I couldn’t believe how lucky I’d gotten.

If I could’ve picked who the secret admirer had been out of anyone on earth, it would’ve always been him.
