Bama
We hung out at the beach for a while with the ladies, but I wanted to take Linny riding around and maybe stop at some of the events before I had to hook back up with Hammer for club business later.
Glenda offered to watch Sofie, and Pinkie said she’d be at the house to keep an eye on her until she got ready for dinner.
Allie opted to come out with us and talked Butterbean into letting her ride with him.
We left on the Harleys after we all showered and changed.
I made sure Linny wore her cut. It wasn’t quite dinnertime, but my plan was to get into a restaurant before it got slammed.
We needed time to grab a bite to eat then go check out some of the shows, and I wanted to let her shop some of the vendors.
We had a little wait at Shuckum’s, so we grabbed her and Sofie t-shirts and hoodies as souvenirs. We ordered a bucket of beer and a dozen oysters on the half shell. Allie and Linny got along well, and Butterbean was always easy company.
“How you liking the rally, Linny?” Butterbean asked.
“I haven’t really seen much besides a buttload of bikers and this place.
But the food is good here!” she shouted across the table.
We all ordered dinner, but she was slamming beers more than eating.
Sofie was in good hands, though, and today was about her.
If she wanted to kick back, I was going to let her.
“Don’t worry. We’ll be making some stops after this. Just making sure you ate.”
Allie grabbed another beer from the tub. “It’s fun. Just a lot of stuff and shows. And hot bikers everywhere.”
“She’s good,” I said, finishing my beer. I wasn’t pounding them as fast as they were. If it was just me, I may have had more, but Linny was riding with me, so I wanted a straight head.
Linny giggled, wrapping her tiny hand around my wrist. “Don’t worry, babe. Nobody is as hot as you.”
I grabbed her hand, kissing her knuckles. Allie clutched her chest. “Oh my God, you gotta stop. Butterbean–”
He dropped his fork, holding his hands up. “Nope,” he said, still chewing. Once he swallowed, he said, “You’re lucky I brought you with me. I don’t need any shit.”
Allie rolled her eyes. “Nobody’s gonna give you shit about me, Butterbean.”
He let out a belly laugh, and I stifled one as well. “Okay. Keep telling yourself that.”
“Anways,” Allie said as she rolled her eyes. “Y’all, hurry up and finish. I’m ready to have some fun.”
After we settled up at the restaurant, we cruised down the strip, stopping at different places with tents set up. It was still early and the sun was bright, but the temps weren’t too hot.
Linny clutched my hand as she dragged me around, looking at the different gear and shirts for sale. We stopped for a concert and there was another event after that, so I grabbed us some drinks.
Linny and Allie danced around, not too far from us. Butterbean and I were watching them and listening to the music.
Someone smacked my ass, so I turned around. Two women in American flag bikini tops, cut-off shorts, high ponytails with blonde and red hair stood, smiling and twirling their hair. “Hey baby, you look like a fun ride.”
Before I could tell them to keep their hands off me and get the fuck away, a flash of green, black, and red had flown around me. Linny and Allie stood, hands on one hip, a solo cup in the other.
“Did you touch him?” Linny asked.
One of the girls said, “Yeah. So?” They stood closer together with their chins jutted out.
“So,” Allie said, “That’s her Old Man, and I’m with that motherfucker, so you skanks need to find someone else to spread your crabs to.”
One of the bikini girls lunged at Allie, but Linny slung her cup at her. The beer splashed the woman’s face and hair, and then they were all in a wrestle quad smackdown.
The bundle of women punched and pushed, small pops of sound with each tiny fist connecting with something. Grunts and screeches came from the wily creatures as Butterbean and I tried to pull them apart.
A small crowd gathered but only about a minute or so passed before we pulled them apart and shoved the bikini girls away.
“Fuck you, bitch! We would’ve fucked you up if your daddies didn’t step in!”
Allie and Linny both tried to lunge for them again but we had a hold of them.
“Okay, okay. Show’s over, y’all,” I said, turning Linny to face her. She had scratches on her face and neck, her hair was messed up, and her face was splotchy. “You’re so pretty when you’re fired up.”
She was grinning, her eyes wide. “I’ve never fought a woman before.” Her whole body was trembling. “I don’t know why I’m shaking.”
“Just the adrenaline. You’re good.”
Allie grabbed her shoulders, pulling her from me. “That’s my girl right there.” She turned and yelled, “Skanks!”
Linny and Allie both giggled uncontrollably, and Butterbean and I just watched as the crowd dispersed. The music was still playing loud, so everyone lost interest fast.
They both straightened up, holding their bellies as they laughed. But Linny stopped, and the color drained from her face.
Allie grabbed her shoulders and started hauling her toward the porti-potties. “Welp, we jostled you too much. C’mon, hustle up.”
Butterbean and I followed behind, waiting for them to come out. My poor woman emerged after a few minutes, pale and pitiful looking.
“I think she yacked it all up,” Allie said. “But probably need to get her back to the house.”
I grabbed Linny’s shoulders, leaning down to look at her. “You okay, baby?” She nodded, so I asked, “You think you can hold on to me while we ride back?”
“Yeah. I’m sorry I ruined the night.” Her bottom lip trembled.
“Hey, hey, hey. You didn’t ruin anything. I just wanted you to have a good time.”
“I did. But I think I need a nap.”
“I need a fucking nap, too,” Allie said. She’d been up all night and if she only did a little speed to get to her through the drive, it would be wearing off soon.
Butterbean and I led them through the growing crowd, and finally made it to our bikes. Traffic was a bitch, so we took one of the side roads down to Back Beach Road to get back to the house faster.
Once I got Linny settled in our bed, I went to check on Sofie. “Hey. How’s your day been?”
“I got all wrinkly!” Sofie said as she held up her hands and wiggled her fingers.
“Let me see.” I grabbed her tiny hands. “You must have swam a lot.”
“We did,” Glenda said from the cocoon she was in on the chair in the living room. “That kid wore me out.”
“Did y’all eat?” I asked, walking to the fridge.
“Yeah, we had pizza delivered. Pinkie left a while ago with the others. They okay?”
Grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge, I took a huge swig. “Yeah. Allie crashed and Linny had a really good time but she’s down for the count.”
Glenda giggled. “Well, partying with that little one all day took it out of me. I’m just waiting for her to get tired.”
“Sofie, can you watch TV in the bedroom?”
“Yeah, I can do that.”
“There ya go. Go to bed.” The sun was just going down, but she could close the curtains. “I gotta go back out and find Hammer. I won’t be too late. Ollie’s out back with a couple of the guys.”
“Oh my God, we’re fine,” Glenda said as she shuffled past me, still wrapped in the blanket. “Go play. We’re good. Right, sweetie?”
Sofie hopped down from the chair she was sitting in and ran up to me. “Good night, Bama.”
“Good night, sweet girl. Night, Glenda.”
They headed upstairs, and I finished off my water and checked in with the guys on the patio. After shooting the shit with them for a few, it was getting dark, so I checked my phone.
“Alright fellas. Be back in a bit. No strange pussy here.”
“We know,” they all said in unison.
I hopped on my Harley and drove to a gas station. Standing by the bike waiting for it to fill up, a man behind me asked, “Hey, you’re Allie’s brother, right?”
Whipping around to see who it was, I looked the man up and down. He was at least a few inches shorter than me, dirty blond hair in a short style, glasses, no cut, and he was standing near a red eighties model ragtop mustang.
“Who’s asking?”
“You seen Brooklyn?”
I was used to fucked up situations and keeping my cool, but I wasn’t prepared for this here of all places. I hoped I didn’t give him any tells that he caught me. “Who?”
He walked closer, his keys in his hands, circling them over his finger. “What about Sadie?”
“Never heard of them.” The gas pump clicked, so I turned and pulled it out, recapping my tank.
“Are they safe?”
“Is who safe, man?” I asked, confusion in my voice as my hands went up.
He stepped even closer. “I know you took them, Bama. And I know your sister is a low-level dealer.”
My jaw ticked. “You don’t know shit about my sister.”
A few guys around the parking lot looked over from their bikes, and a few started walking closer.
Trying to keep it together, knowing he was a cop I said, “You need to get out of here before you get yourself into some trouble.”
“Is that a threat?” he asked, his hands going to his chest. “I’m a cop. That would be pretty stupid.”
Stepping closer to him, I said, “You’re not on duty down here, and from what I can tell, you’re all alone. Now keep my sister’s name out of your mouth and get the fuck out of here.”
He reached into his pocket, and one of the guys I recognized from earlier in the day reached to his back. I put my hand up to stop him.
Her ex pulled his wallet out. “Here. I just want to make sure they’re okay.”
He lifted some cash, but I batted it away, the bills flying with the breeze from the beach behind me.
“Did you just assault an officer?” he asked with a smirk. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. That was a bad move, Bama.”
“No.” My fist flew at him, knocking his glasses off his face as my knuckles connected to his cheek.
I drew back fast and took a second blow as he stumbled.
“ Now I’ve assaulted a pig.” Grabbing his shirt collar, I said through clenched teeth, “You speak their names ever again, I’ll make you fucking disappear. ”
Shoving him away, he righted himself and bowed up, but the bikers came closer.
“We got us a stray little piggie?” one of them asked as he cracked his knuckles.
Her ex looked around, his chest rising and falling as he huffed. After a few beats, he reached down and grabbed his glasses off the pavement, then turned toward his car.
The other guys snorted and made oinking sounds and he walked off. Once he got in his car and pulled away, a few of them came over and we shook hands. “Thanks, brother.”
“Yeah man. Fuck that motherfucker. I think I saw your prez earlier. We’re heading that way. Stick with us, man.”
“Thanks. Just need a second.” I shot a text off to Ollie to lock up the house and keep an eye out for the Mustang. I had to find Hammer. He wouldn’t hear his phone so I had to go speak to him, but I couldn’t leave the others at the house, unalert.
Hopefully this asshole didn’t know where we were staying.
