Chapter Twenty-One
Griffin’s Beach Gavin
W alking up to the clubhouse, Gavin shakes his head. “What’s so urgent? It’s not even ten yet.”
“I gotta tell you something,” Kent says.
His fists clench at his sides, and he looks angry. No, he doesn’t look angry. He looks ready to go on a murderous rampage. For someone who looks like he lights up multiple times a day to stay as mellow as he does, his demeanor has Gavin immediately on edge.
“Is Gracie okay?”
The two of them have been dating for a while, and he trusts Kent with his sister’s life. He’s actually pretty glad they’ve found each other.
Kent shakes his head. “I… I have to tell you this because I need your help, but you gotta keep your mouth shut. Especially to your pops.”
“You knocked her up already?”
“It’s not funny!” he shouts. “That wouldn’t make me upset, and I sure as hell wouldn’t need your help if I had.”
“I’m not even going to—What do you need help with?”
“Can you keep your mouth shut?”
Nodding, he moves to sit on the picnic table outside the front door. “Of course.”
“Cole’s gotta go. And we need to go inside and make him.”
“I mean, I don’t really like him, either, but why? Dude, you look ready to explode. What’s going on?”
Sniffling, his hands shake at his sides, and for a moment, Gavin wonders if he’s going through withdrawals. Has Kent been using something?
“If he doesn’t go on his own, I’m going to fucking murder that bastard.”
“Kent, what the fuck is going on?”
A low growl escapes before he lowers his voice. “He’s Nolan’s father.”
The world screeches to a halt, and he gapes at the larger man. “Cole Walsh knocked up my sister?”
“Talked her into fucking him, and when he was done, he just left her there. Then, he pretended it never happened and refused to take responsibility for Nolan.”
“She told you this?”
“Yeah. I knew about how everything went down, but she freaked out last night when she saw Cole behind the bar. She came clean. He was outside before I got there and told her she can’t stop him from joining the club.”
The new Prospect walks around like his shit don’t stink because he’s dating Colt’s sister, but the reality is, he knocked up the VP’s daughter. “We gotta tell my dad.”
“We can’t. I promised I wouldn’t say anything because she doesn’t want to hurt Klaire. I think it’s a stupid decision, but it’s hers. But I can’t do this alone.”
Gavin shakes his head. “Sorry, I’m just… This is a lot this early in the day.”
“My thinking is that we can go in and scare the shit out of him. Convince him that leaving on his own will be better than dying.”
“It’s worth a shot,” he says and follows Kent inside.
The man in question stands behind the bar wiping down the shelves like a good little brown noser. His head is so far up Colt’s ass, Gavin’s surprised he can do anything without the President around to praise him.
“Hey, guys,” Cole says and gives them his pretentious smile. “What’s up?”
Leaning on the bar top, Kent clenches his fists. “We gotta talk.”
“Sure.”
The bar top doesn’t provide a ton of protection for Cole, and Gavin taps Kent’s shoulder. “Maybe back away. Make it easier not to pummel him.”
“You’re going to hit me?” Cole asks.
“Unless you turn in your kutte right now and walk out before we fucking murder you,” Gavin says.
He expects Cole to look shocked or question them. Try to find common ground. Instead, he actually smirks. “So, she finally told you, huh?”
“So you admit it?” Kent asks.
“Fucking her? Yeah, sure. But it’s not like I’m the only one. She’s a little biker whore. But that kid ain’t mine, and you’ll never prove otherwise.”
“If I rip your fucking head off, we’ll have plenty of DNA to test against,” Gavin says, lunging at him, but Kent catches him.
Cole just laughs. If he sees the two of them as a threat, he has an odd way of showing it. “And what good would that do? I mean, not to speak badly about Gracie or anything, but she got naked fifteen minutes after talking to me for the first time. Wasn’t very good, but sex is sex, right?”
“That’s my sister, asshole. And his girl.”
Kent stays eerily silent as he stares down Cole. It unsettles Gavin more than comforts him. He has the same look as every killer in every horror movie ever made before they strike out and kill a victim.
“Sorry. Just thought you should know the truth. There’s probably a line of men a mile long who could be that bastard’s father.”
“You might want to think about how you talk about Gracie or Nolan around us,” Kent says, his tone low and menacing. “You have this one chance to walk before this comes to light. You won’t get thrown on your ass; you’ll get buried six feet under. Consider this your only warning.”
Just to piss them off further, Cole laughs again. “Do you hear yourself? I’m dating the sister of the President. Your dad’s, what? The VP? Cool. Still not top dog. And your dad, Kent? He’s nothing. Besides, who’s going to believe you?”
“Everyone will,” Gavin says.
“I guess you can take that chance, but Klaire will argue that I’m incredibly faithful. Patient, since she’s holding out until marriage. And then you’ll create a problem between the President and his VP. Face it, guys. I’m untouchable.”
Gavin stares hard at him. This can’t be happening. He can’t be untouchable… Can he?
Griffin’s Beach Lex
L ex leaves Colt’s apartment to grab water from the bar to replenish them when familiar voices arguing carries into the hallway. She stops to listen without being detected.
The way the new guy talks about Gracie and Nolan pisses Lex off, but it’s his last statement that sets her into a rage. “Face it, guys. I’m untouchable.”
Walking into the main room, Gavin slaps Kent’s chest when he sees her, and the conversation stops.
How the fuck did this pencil dick pull both Gracie and Klaire? He’s not even cute.
“Hey, guys. It’s a little early, isn’t it?” Lex asks.
“Just cleaning up to make sure everything looks good for the vote tonight,” Cole says with a wide smile. “Wow, Lex, you look amazing.”
“Word of advice, Prospect… That’s not really appropriate to say to a taken woman when she walks out wearing her man’s clothes after she clearly fucked his brains out the night before.”
As she expects, his eyes graze over her body and stop at her chest. “Got it.”
“Keep looking at my tits, and I’ll slap you into next week.”
Hands up, he backs up with a smirk. “Sorry.”
“I need two bottles of water.”
Both of the legacies behind her look ready to murder him, and she glances back at them. “You guys okay?”
Say something. Tell me what you think I didn’t just overhear. Let me show this bitch ass that he has no idea what untouchable is.
“We’re fine,” Kent says through clenched teeth.
Well, I gave you a shot.
“Here’s the water, Lex,” Cole says. “Anything else I can help you with?”
Laughing, she shakes her head. “Hunny, you can tear your pathetic little mind away from where it just went. You are the absolute last person in this clubhouse I would ever consider.”
“At least I made the list.”
“Aren’t you dating my sister-in-law?”
This sobers him up, and he smiles. “I love Klaire. She’s a great girl.”
Kent’s anger radiates off of him, and he looks like he vibrates. It puts her immediately on edge, and she gives him a concerned look. “Kent, baby, you good?”
“I’m fine.”
“You don’t look fine. In fact, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen you look anything but stoned. You’re kind of freaking me out.”
“Just in the mood for some violence is all.”
She glances between them, willing one of them to say something, but she shrugs when they stay silent. “Okay, well, this is sufficiently weird, and I have to go hydrate my husband before we give Jace and Mel a run for their money. See you boys tonight.”
“We could talk to Lex,” Gavin mutters.
“Still wouldn’t help,” Cole answers back.
Pretending not to hear them, Lex smirks. You just make the biggest mistake of your life by underestimating me, motherfucker.
“I thought you got lost,” Colt says from the bed as she walks into the apartment.
“No, just ran into something weird.” She hands him the water, and she leans against the dresser to drink her own. “Tell me… What do you think about that Cole guy?”
“Honestly?” he asks and downs half the bottle. “He’s too… everywhere. When I move, he’s right underfoot. I get he’s Klaire’s boyfriend, but I swear, that kid wants to date me.”
Giggling, she climbs onto the bed and straddles him over the covers. “What do the others think of him?”
“I don’t think they have strong feelings either way. He doesn’t seem like he’ll last long.”
“Even TK?”
He shrugs. “I don’t think he really cares for him, but he likes that his daughter may be with a man of the club even if he doesn’t necessarily like Cole.”
“Klaire really likes him?”
“I guess so. I think she’s a little too good for him, but you’re too good for me. I can’t say much,” he says with a smirk.
“Do me a favor?” she asks, kissing him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
He kisses her back and presses his strained erection against her. “As long as you take off these clothes, I’ll do just about anything you want.”
“Don’t patch him into the club,” she whispers into his ear.
“Why?”
Tugging the shirt over her head, Lex smirks as he pulls her to him and takes a nipple into his mouth.
“I can’t say, but I promise, it’ll come to light when he gets passed over. And it’ll be better if he’s not wearing the Drifter patch when everyone finds out.”
“And it’s something that would be worth kicking him out for?”
His mouth moves to her other nipple, and she tosses her head back. “People will want to murder him.”
Releasing her, he stares hard at her. “Why?”
“That’s what I can’t tell you,” she whispers and climbs off him to take off the boxers.
“Lex—”
She tugs the covers off of him and bends down to take him into her mouth. Whatever argument he had disappears when he knots his fingers in her hair.
“Okay, fine, whatever you want. Fuck, Lex, yes, just like that.”
I could get whatever I want like this. I’ll have to remember that…
Colt thrusts hard into the back of her throat, and she suppresses her gag reflex. He’s always loved her skills, especially when she’s on her knees, and she gets a kind of pleasure watching him lose his mind as he comes in her mouth.
Let’s see how untouchable you are now, asshole.
“Your turn,” he growls, tossing Lex onto her back before moving between her legs. His tongue swirls the way she likes, and she closes her eyes in victory.
