Chapter Twelve
Griffin’s Beach Rocco
W alking into the clubhouse, Rocco spots Colt talking with Ky and Venom. He makes a beeline for the man he’s not entirely certain is still his friend.
“We need to talk.”
“Kind of in the middle of something,” Colt says and points to the two others.
“It’s cool. I gotta meet Marnie, anyway,” Venom says.
Rocco hasn’t fully made up his mind about Venom yet, but he knows he’s handy to have in a fight. Just like Psycho. But he’s one of the guys who stand in line to bend over and kiss Lex’s ass, so he doesn’t trust him completely.
Lex and Rocco used to get along great. They were friends, even, but he blames her for Autumn leaving him. Not only did she set the stage to show Autumn it was possible, she pushed his girl to leave him. Told her that he’d never be the type to get married when that’s all Autumn wanted.
He lost his girl, and while she was gone, she gained a stalker who almost killed someone he once considered to be his best friend. And he doesn’t know that he’ll ever truly forgive Lex for Colt almost dying while she feels the same about Rocco.
On top of that, she allowed Melanie and Heidi to attack Autumn.
Then she joined in with them. It all rubs him the wrong way.
Yes, Autumn got the least amount of torture when she was kidnapped by the Slashers, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t a victim.
They treat her as though she made everything up even though they were right there beside her.
“What’s up?” Colt asks with a sigh as Ky gives a look that screams good luck before he walks away.
Yeah? Fuck you, too, Ky.
“What the fuck’s going on?”
Shaking his head, Colt shrugs. “I’m gonna need more than that if you expect a real answer.”
“Look, I know there are threats from the cops, but there’s something you seem to be working on alone. I get it. When you’re ready, you’ll bring us all in.”
“Yeah, I really don’t know what kind of answer you’re looking for now.”
“What the fuck is Lex doing?”
He founds and looks across the room to find his wife talking with Felicity. “Uh, looks like she’s having a conversation with Ky’s wife. I’m not sure what they’re talking about, but I can ask if you really want to know.”
“No, not literally, asshole,” he says with fists clenched.
“What the fuck are you trying to ask me?” Colt snaps. “I can’t read your mind, and I’m not in the mood to play some playground guessing game with you. If you have a question, fucking ask it. If there’s not a point soon, I have better things to do.”
“Why the fuck is your wife so obsessed with Autumn?” he snaps back.
His anger quickly switches to confusion, which pisses Rocco off even more. “What are you talking about?”
“She keeps trying to get Autumn to talk to her. Go out with the other old ladies. Hang out as a group. Why? It’s fucking creepy.”
“You mean, trying to get Autumn back into the fold with the rest of the women is considered obsessed? The woman who by all accounts isolated herself by being one of the women who wanted to leave your ass when we had that shit going on with the Slashers?”
It’s Rocco’s turn to look confused. “What?”
“Lex wants Autumn back in with the old ladies. Your girl created the island she sits on alone, and Lex wasn’t the only one who thought Autumn got real fucking annoying when she’d bitch about all the torture she went through when she didn’t.”
“Yeah, she fucking did.”
Colt lunges at Rocco, and their noses touch as he grips his leather. “No, she didn’t. Lex passed out in my arms after being beaten, waterboarded, and shocked. Melanie has burn scars, and Heidi was strangled until she was knocked out. Autumn got a few shocks. Poor baby.”
It’s not the first time someone has commented on how annoying Autumn got with the whole situation. The truth is, Rocco feels the same, but he’ll never admit to anyone. Especially Colt.
“You think because it wasn’t as bad as the others, she has no right to be upset.”
“She doesn’t get to play victim and use it to get sympathy and attention. It’s a slap in the face to listen to her bitch about how terrible it was when my wife was actually tortured. I don’t care what you think, and you will never win this argument with me.”
The frustration Autumn created with everyone can’t be ignored. First, it pushed Rocco towards the strippers at the Puffy Taco. Again. Which landed him in the dog house.
After getting fed up with her antics a few months ago, he fucked a club bunny. Twice. It was out of spite, and he knows it was wrong. And he’s still paying for it. Both with Autumn and with the antibiotics he had to take to clear up the infection.
“Why is Lex so hell-bent on getting her back in with the rest of them, then?” Rocco asks.
“Because Lex has different responsibilities now. Autumn’s also one of her oldest friends, and Lane’s death affected all of us.”
He’d been certain Lex had some type of malicious intent behind it. Maybe he’s wrong. Maybe she’s just trying to mend bridges and make things better. He could really benefit from Autumn becoming her old self again.
“Okay.”
“That’s it?” Colt calls after Rocco pushes him away and walks out to his bike.
Needing to talk to Autumn, he heads home. She’s been upset with the way things have been, and she was less than thrilled with the welcome Lex received when she moved back to Griffin’s Beach.
The lights in the house are all off, and he sighs as he climbs the front steps. It’s barely ten, and she’s already asleep.
“Autumn?” Rocco calls, hoping she’s still awake.
His hopes of getting laid tonight dash with every moment that passes in the dark while he walks into the kitchen for a beer.
“Thought you might be shacking up with Kandi tonight,” Autumn says.
She walks out of the bathroom wearing a robe, and he realizes the flickering light is from the candles. She treated herself to a bath while he was at the clubhouse, and it’s hard not to breathe deeply when he smells the scent of vanilla. His favorite.
“I told you that it’s done with her,” he says.
Nodding, she walks into the room and opens the fridge. The light illuminates her, and he wants to crawl on his hands and knees towards her. When things are good between them, the sex is explosive. He aches for her when she holds out on him, which has been more frequent since catching him cheating.
“You don’t believe me?”
“I’ve accepted the terms of loving you, Rocco.”
“What does that mean?”
She turns, and the robe is loose enough to show off the piercing on her skin between her tits. Licking his lips, he imagines staring at while he’s balls deep inside her. It’s a mesmerizing gemstone he fucking loves.
“It means that I have to compromise if I want to keep you.”
“You don’t care that I fucked Kandi?”
“Oh, I care, but I can’t do much about it. You’re going to do what you want regardless of what I want, and I have to find ways to deal with it however I feel fit.”
Walking up to her, he presses her against the counter. “And how do you see fit?”
She smiles and gently kisses the tip of his nose. “By reminding you what you’re giving up if you can’t stop fucking women who aren’t me.”
“Yeah, and what am I giving up?” he asks, loving the game they play.
Untying the robe, she lets it fall to her sides to expose her bare front. The door to the refrigerator remains open, and the light makes her look absolutely delicious.
“Are you saying you’ll walk away from me?”
She shakes her head. “I can never do that, Rocco. No matter what you do to me, I can’t leave you. You’re my heart. Everything I am. But it doesn’t mean you get to have every part of me if you don’t treat me right.”
Licking his lips, he pants. “Where do we stand tonight?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
Autumn pushes him back gently and closes her robe before bending over, her shaved pussy staring at him beneath her milky ass, and she pulls out a takeout box from last night from the fridge.
“I’m starving. I haven’t eaten since this morning.”
Rocco bites his lip because he craves something else. Something even more delicious than leftover Chinese food.
“Since you’re torturing me,” he says and turns on the overhead light, “we need to talk about something.”
“Oh, goodie,” she says and sits at the table.
Again, her robe slips open, this time exposing the slightest bit of her pink nipple, and he can’t tear his eyes away. She really does know how to torture him in the best way possible.
“I talked to Colt. I asked what the hell is up with Lex being up your ass, and he says she just wants you back into the fold. It doesn’t exactly sound like it would be so great for me, but I think it might be good for you.”
The fork pauses midway to her mouth. “You think Lex deserves a second chance?”
“I think she’s trying to be good to you. To all the women. As much as I know I’d be in pain if you were friends and told her about catching me fucking Kandi’s ass, she was your friend for many years. Maybe it’s time to move past it all.”
Setting the fork down with enough force to bend the cardboard container, she glares. “First, she does know about you and Kandi. Second, she picked Melanie over me. She and I will never be friends again.”
“Baby, I don’t like her, either, but the truth is, she’s a staple in the club no matter what we want or think. It might be better if you just befriended her again. You can always keep her at a distance—”
“Do you want a snack, Rocco?”
Her legs spread as she pulls the bottom of the robe up her thighs. The wetness glistens in the light, and he knows she’s changing the subject. Offering him something she knows he’ll never turn down.
“Say you love me,” he says, his voice just above a whisper. “That even though I fucked up, you still love me.”
“Everything I do in this life is for you. You may hurt me to the point of shattering me, but I can never leave you. My devotion to you can never be broken.”
He falls to his knees and crawls until he’s buried between her legs, hooking her knees over his shoulders. At least she confirmed she has no plans to leave him.
Things were a little rocky before Lex and Colt returned, and he’d given into his frustrations and weaknesses.
Kandi was there and willing while Autumn wasn’t.
But when he saw Autumn’s face as he drove balls deep into Kandi’s asshole when she walked into his apartment, he knew he never wanted to see that look again.
He hurt her enough to numb her. The look she gave him when he told her they both needed to be treated for the STI he got from the bunny was more defeat than anger. Pain, but defeat. Resignation that this was her life.
Autumn didn’t speak to him for days after she walked in on him. He bought her flowers and candy and apologized on his hands and knees. Fucked up isn’t strong enough to explain how he screwed up, and he still feels terrible.
She’s forgiven him enough to let him inside her at night. As long as he was home by ten, he was guaranteed to get laid. It was almost a reward for doing well, and he hopes she understands he still loves her.
He loves her, but he’s a weak man. But he vows to repent, starting with making her moan as she rides his face.
