Page 128 of Danger and Dominance
“I didn’t know I was going to be seeing you here, or I would have brought your baklava—I made three different kinds so you can tell me which one you like the best,” David’s little sister said, beaming at him.
Fuck, she wasn’t just hot, and he wasn’t just attracted to her. She’d made him baklava.Three different varieties. He almost whimpered.
She is David’s little sister,he told his dick.It had absolutely no effect. The traitorous body part knew what it wanted, and it didn’t care whose sister she was.
“Thank you.”
“Sorry,” she said, wrinkling her nose and taking another step back. Her head tilted to the side as she reached up to tug on the end of her ponytail.“I know I come on kind of strong.I’m trying to get better about it.”
“I like how you come on,” he said before he could think about what he was saying.“I didn’t mind.”He wanted to reassure her, then hunt down anyone who had ever made her feel less than perfect for being so warm and inviting and punch them in the face.
Fuck.What is happening to me?
This wasn’t him. This wasn’t who he was. This wasn’t how he reacted to women.
“Hey, Audrey, ready to go?”David came around the corner, and Mason had never been simultaneously so glad and so disappointed to see someone.“Oh, hey, Mason. What are you doing here?”
Not perving on your sister, that’s for sure.
“Uh, I just had to pick some stuff up.”
“Same.”David held up the folder in his hand as he slung his other arm around his sister’s shoulders. Was he looking at Mason weird?Or was Mason just being paranoid?“Audrey and I are headed over to brunch with our grandmother now.Cassidy is driving her and meeting us there.”
“I love Cassidy,” Audrey enthused, beaming up at David.“So does Grandma. We stayed up ‘til two o’clock last night talking.I adore her.”
“She’s pretty great,” Mason agreed. It seemed polite to agree with her since she was so excited. It wasn’t just so she could look at him and smile the way she was smiling at her brother.
Except that when she did, it felt like the sun had just come out from behind the clouds and was shining on him again.
“She’s so great. But we do need to go so we can meet her. Will you be at Jensen’s tonight?”
That’s where they were having the welcome gathering for Audrey so people could see her—or, in Mason’s case, meet her.Though obviously, he’d jumped the gun. They were going to Jensen’s because his house was a lot better set up for hosting than David’s was.A lot of people were going to be there.
Including his new fiancé.
Yasmine.
They were making the announcement tonight.
Fuck.
“Yeah, he’s coming,” David said, looking at Mason oddly, and he realized he’d been standing in place, not answering Audrey’s question because his brain was finally catching up to how truly fucked he was right now.
“Yeah, I’m coming.”
“Great.”She brightened again, and it hurt to watch because he knew he shouldn’t be enjoying that brightness the way he was.“We’ll see you there!”
“See you there,” he echoed, turning to watch them walk out of the office. Her hips sashayed with every step, her delectable bottom shifting with the movement in a manner that made him feel a little weak.Like falling to his knees so he could bite that round, juicy?—
Mason coughed and turned his head away as the elevator doors opened to admit them.
He needed to get his head on straight.Because he’d made an agreement.Because he couldn’t derail his life plan for a woman he’d just met.Because instant lust was just a chemical, hormonal reaction, it didn’t mean anything.
And because he was getting married to Yasmine Jafari.
