I guide Tyler through the servant's quarters and out the back. Gunner's van's exactly where it should be, engine purring, ready to roll.
"Holy shit," Tyler breathes as I help him into the van. "You actually did it."
"Ty, I'm full of surprises." I grin at him as Gunner hits the gas. "And this is just the beginning."
"Dante, this is Hawk," I key the radio one more time. "Package Two secured and rolling to safety. And hey, turns out the rabbit hole was definitely worth the trip."
Pause. Then. "Copy. Good work."
I look at Tyler, who's wrapped in one of August's blankets and staring out the window like he's seeing the world for the first time. His scent's already changing—less fear.
"Where are we going?" he asks quietly.
"Somewhere safe," I promise. "Somewhere no one's ever gonna lock you up again."
Because that's what this whole clusterfuck revolution's about. Not just taking down corrupt politicians. It's about giving omegas like Tyler… like Daisy, like every omega who's been treated like property, the chance to live their own damn lives.
And watching the wonder on his face as he sees the sky for the first time in years?
Yeah. Worth every bruised knuckle.
Chapter 43
Daisy
Three months later, and I'm still sitting behind this massive desk like I belong here.
Which is ridiculous. I don't belong here.
Uncle's chair feels way too big. Like I'm playing dress-up in someone else's life. But here I am, signing the last bunch of boring paperwork, and all I can think about is that crazy night.
How he tried to run when we stormed the mansion. Bolted for the back exit like the coward he is. Dante and his team had already taken everyone else out, but they let me go after him. Dante stayed close, had my back, but this was mine to finish.
God, the look on his face when he realized it was me chasing him.Me.The niece he'd trained to be quiet and obedient and perfect. Hunting him through his own mansion.
His hands were shaking so bad when I cornered him in his study. Papers scattered everywhere. Him desperately trying to destroy evidence like that was gonna save him.
"You did this," he'd whispered. Like he couldn't believe it.
“Yeah, I did. And I'm not sorry.”
The first thing I did after was sign all those executive orders. No more Choosing Days. Done.
Elections where everyone gets to vote, not just the rich assholes. And investigating every single case where they hid away male omegas like dirty secrets.
But we did it. We actually fucking did it.
The door opens and Gunner walks in, and through our bond I feel his contentment spike warm and deep. Behind him is a woman who looks so much like him it's startling. Sandy blonde hair, those same green eyes with gold flecks. Her honeyed lavender scent wraps around the room like a warm blanket.
"Daisy," Gunner says. "I want you to meet my sister Lily. We've been catching up for the past hour."
An hour. He's had his sister back for a whole hour, and through our connection I can feel how... complete he is now. Like someone found the missing piece of a puzzle he'd been carrying around broken.
Makes my chest tight in the best way.
Behind Lily, three men follow—two alphas and a beta. They're all watching her like she's their whole world.
A little girl with Gunner's eyes peeks around one of the alpha's legs. A toddler with blonde curls babbles from his perch on the beta's hip.
