I tore my mouth from his. “I love you so much.”
“Tell me. Exactly. I need to know.”
I stroked his dark hair from his eyes so I didn’t miss a single reaction. “I love your carefree spirit and how wild and adventurous you are. I am crazy about the way you’re such an open book. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and I’m the luckiest woman in the world that this heart is mine.”
Convict shivered.
I wasn’t done. “You are loyal, faithful, and you’re so giving.”
He bucked against me, and I groaned, already wet. Needing him more than I ever thought possible.
“Every time I want anything, you’re there. You are the kindest and most thoughtful man I’ve ever known, and although you say you don’t deserve me, it’s the other way around. From the very start, you’ve been all in, and I was the one holding back. All those big statements you made, that I was yours, that you were keeping me, that you loved me, I doubted it all. Except it was true.”
He pressed his lips to mine. “I’ve got one to add to the list: I’m marrying you one day.”
Damn. I whimpered. “All my doubt changed the moment I thought I’d lost you. I couldn’t bear it. I’m so sorry for not sharing my heart earlier, but it one hundred percent belongs to you.”
Convict ran his hand down my leg and picked it up, curling it around his back. He repeated the act with my other leg then fitted his dick to my entrance. He drove inside me and groaned.
Echoing the sound, I closed my eyes against the strength of feeling, so great I never wanted to recover from it.
When I opened them again, he stared down at me, his emotions right there in his tortured expression.
“I changed my mind.”
I blinked. “What about?”
“I’ve decided I do deserve you. In fact, we deserve each other because we fought everything to make this work. I love you. I’m yours, always. Now hold on tight while I fuck that knowledge into you so neither of us ever forget.”
He filled me, teased me, then put on a burst of speed that sent me so far over the ledge, I almost lost my mind from the pleasure.
When he came, I held him to me, too aware of his head injury.
“Still alive?” I asked.
“If I’m not, Hell looks nice.”
“Then let’s stay.”
“If you’re here? Always, little gangster.”
Chapter 53
Mila
On the sofa, freshly showered and very, very satisfied, I curled up with Convict while the sun set, and he explained what he’d realised in the early hours. The memory of a woman that had been so powerful he’d followed it all the way to my family’s warehouse.
It hurt to hear his trafficking suspicion, but I was glad he didn’t hide it.
“You told Kenney all this?” I asked.
“I did, though not that I was undercover. He did fuck all about it, suggesting he didn’t have the opportunity or more likely that he’s been paid not to hear. Tyler gets tip-offs from the police sometimes. No reason not to do it then.”
“For Lovelyn’s sake, I hope it’s the former.”
He brushed his thumb over my knuckles in a way that told me not to bet on it. “Do you blame me for taking the job?”
“Of course not. You were acting under orders and gave the information to the police. What else could you have done?”
