Aiden

Waking up with Brock in my arms might be my new favorite way to start my day. As we get ready for the day and climb into his truck to get it ready to open, I can’t stop thinking about how well he fits in here.

As he walks past me inside his truck, I wrap my arm around his waist and tug him towards me, scenting his hair. It’s so sweet and delicious, but there’s something else in there, something zesty and fresh. Gods, it’s addicting.

“Stop it or we’ll never get everything ready before your pack arrives,” he says, playfully shoving me away. “It would be a terrible first impression if they knew we were fucking in my truck before they got here.”

“You smell so good. I can’t get enough of it.”

“Be a good alpha and maybe I’ll let you have your fill straight from the source tonight,” he tells me with a wink. He saunters to the other counter, looking over his shoulder before getting back to work.

I’m not sure how the universe knew I needed a feisty, take-charge omega in my life, but I’m so very glad for it. He teases and pushes and knows exactly what he wants. He’s independent and wild. And I find myself falling for him faster than I thought possible.

I was told I needed this vacation to recharge and relax. Instead, I’ve somehow gotten that and so much more. Somehow, the universe gave me love.

It doesn’t take long for us to have everything up and running. Brock comes and steals a kiss before he’s leaning over the counter and pulling the window open. He sets out his menu, chuckling when he sees that there’s already a line of people outside.

“Hello, everyone,” he says with a wave, presenting himself and his truck to my pack. I sit back and watch him. He’s completely in his element here. My chest feels like it might literally burst with the force of emotion plowing through me.

He fits in here. I can tell that my pack already adores him. It wasn’t that long ago that I felt like I was drifting in a sea of loneliness. I longed for someone at my side who would help hold me up when the burden of being the alpha became too much.

I can see Brock in that role. I can see him being my omega. Not only that, I want him to be my omega. I want everything he’s willing to give me.

Brock turns towards me from where he’s perched up on his stool, talking to everyone. His belly bumps the register pad from the counter and I quickly catch it before it can hit the floor. He looks over at me with wide eyes then down at his own stomach.

“Huh,” he whispers, “I guess I let myself go a bit on our vacation.”

I shake my head. “It was probably just your apron.”

Brock looks away, something thoughtful on his face. Before I can comment on it, he leans over the counter towards my pack. “Alright,” he calls out, “who’s first?”

My neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Hunt are there first. They both order a cup of coffee that Brock tells me to get since it’s something simple. I listen to him introduce himself and ask questions. I can already tell that they adore him, the same way that I do.

We help a few more of the pack and I enjoy being able to just sit back and not be the center of attention. Sure, everyone says hello but all eyes are on Brock. He seems to bloom under the attention. He was made for this.

Brock takes his time to have a conversation with every person, ask them questions, and get to know them in a split second. It’s amazing to watch. It reminds me of the way I can make split second decisions about people right when I meet them. Could that same trait be something Brock has? Maybe he really would fit perfectly as the pack omega. If he wants, that is.

“Hi! It’s really lovely to meet you,” Avery says as he walks up to the window with his pup, Suzanne, in his arms. Frost is beside him, a wide grin on his face with his hand resting on Avery’s waist. “My name is Avery and I’m the pack medic. This is Suzanne, and this is my mate, Frost.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all! Aiden has told me about you and your family. Don’t worry, it’s all been good things.”

Avery chuckles and looks over at me. “It better be.”

“Hi, Suzanne,” Brock says, leaning even further against the counter to get a good look at their pup. “Aren’t you the most beautiful pup?”

“It’s because she looks just like her omega dad,” Frost says.

Avery rolls his eyes. “I’m really happy to hear you had a good time at the lodge. I swear, there’s magic in the air there!”

“There really is. I think it’s the owners. They give me a distinct fae feeling.”

Frost’s eyes widen. “You thought that too? I thought I was going nuts thinking that!”

“No way, they totally have something going on! Not that I’m complaining, of course! I happened to get myself a cute alpha out of the deal,” Brock says, turning towards me and winking.

Curse him and his ability to make me blush whenever he wants. As much as I hate blushing in front of everyone, there’s a warmth within me at Brock calling me his alpha so openly. Is that how he sees me? Is he ready to call me his for anyone and everyone to hear?

Gods, I hope so. I want to be his so fucking desperately.

“What can I get you two this fine morning?”

They both order some sort of coffee drink. As Brock starts to make it, Avery softly says, “when you need me, just let me know. No rush or anything, but I just wanted to let you know I’ll happily take care of anything you both might need.”

It takes me far too long to realize what he’s implying. I can feel my face go bright red as I think about Brock needing a doctor for a pregnancy. I don’t even know if he wants children! I don’t even know if he actually wants to stay .

Shit, I should probably talk to him about all of this and all of these feelings I’m having.

But not today. Today, Brock is enjoying himself and I’m not about to ruin that by getting too serious.

“Here you are,” Brock says as he comes back over. “I hope you enjoy!”

“Thank you. It was nice meeting you, Brock. It’s probably too early for me to say this, but I hope you’re here to stay,” Avery says with a gentle smile.

Brock looks a bit shocked by the comment but his face quickly shifts into something soft. “Thank you, Avery. That means a lot.”

I reach under the counter and place a hand on Brock’s hip. He looks at me and smiles. I think he knows what I want to say without me even having to say it. I agree with Avery. I hope he’s here for the long haul. I hope he’s here to stay.

In response, Brock takes my hand from his hip and brings it to his mouth, kissing my knuckles.

Next in line is Alex and Harry. They’re just as bright and friendly as ever.

“I love to see you putting Aiden to work like this,” Alex says with a chuckle. “I think this is the first time I’ve seen him do something he wasn’t instantly good at!”

Brock gets a sparkle in his eyes. “Is that so? He does seem like the type to excel at everything without trying. It would be annoying if he wasn’t so hot.”

My cheeks flush at the comment. “Hey! You know I can hear you, right?”

“Oh, I think we’re all aware, dear!”

Alex and Harry both giggle. If I didn’t need them so much I would absolutely tell them they’re fired for this.

Brock switches places with me, going to make their lattes. “Hey, boss?”

“Yeah?”

Harry looks up at me with a soft look on his face. “Make sure you keep him, okay?”

I look back at Brock. He’s humming to himself as he makes their drinks. He must notice me staring because he looks over his shoulder at me, giving me a soft smile before going back to what he was doing. My stomach leaps and my heart stutters.

“Yeah,” I tell my friends. “That’s the plan.”
