E lla

The next morning when I get to work, a muscular set of arms wrap around my waist and pull me into a powerful body.

He nuzzles his face into my neck, sending goosebumps along my skin. “Where did you sneak off to last night, Little Cinder? I woke up and you were gone.”

I’m hustled into the pantry and pinned against the brick wall by a very amorous Lars who kisses me until I lose all senses.

“If Mrs. V. catches us in here, there will be hell to play,” I rasp, coming up for air.

“You’re right,” he says. “Best we take it elsewhere then. ”

He throws me over his shoulder and carries me out of the pantry, through the empty kitchen and all the way up the grand staircase to his bedroom.

“She’s going to lose her shit at me if the coffee isn’t on and the breakfast prep hasn’t started,” I tell him as I dangle over his shoulder.

“Don’t worry about Mrs. V., I’ll take care of it.” He opens the bedroom door, then kicks it closed behind us. “All you have to do is enjoy what is coming next.”

“Which is what?”

He eases me down on the bed and crawls over me. “You, Little Cinder. You.”

I don’t know what Lars says to Mrs. V., but when I walk in an hour late for work, she isn’t angry at me. Disapproving perhaps, but not cranky for my tardiness.

“Young love.” She rolls her eyes. “Just don’t make a habit of being late.”

Then she disappears outside to meet Mr. Peters who is paying us an unscheduled visit.

Wait, is she wearing lipstick?

“What are you looking at?” Mya asks when she walks in.

I wave her over to the window where I’m watching Mrs. V. and Mr. Peters outside on the driveway .

Mrs. V. pats her hair to check it’s in place as Mr. Peters approaches her with a bouquet of flowers.

“Oh my God,” Mya squeals. “Mrs. V. has found herself a boy.”

“He likes her too; look at the way he’s looking at her.”

“Kind of reminds me of someone else I know,” Mya says conspiratorially.

I don’t even try to deny it.

I’ve just been laid very well by a hot-as-hell biker with a big cock and an inked body I want to worship morning, noon and night. There’s no hiding the afterglow.

I grin, and she giggles, and it is so easy to get caught up in the moment, and for me to think this is all real and I am not going to betray these people.

But that’s not reality.

I’m lying to them.

And the secrets I’m keeping could destroy us all.
