Page 69 of Charming Violet
“Maverick, no. Violet said talk first.” Axel scolds him like a child.
Crossing his arms across his chest he lets out a huff, “Fine.”
Holding back my laugh, I look up at Landon. “Last night, I know I agreed to forgive you, but that was a very unfair way to do it.”
“But you forgave us, so no need to bring it up again.”
“Mav, come on, you guys cheated, denying an orgasm isn’t nice.”
“I know. I fucking edged myself.”
We all let out a laugh.
“Anyway, that forgiveness comes with stipulations. No more secrets and no more lies. What you did is really messed up. On some level, I knew James wasn’t right for me, especially since I always kind of liked you guys, but still, you should have let me figure that out, by myself.”
“You always liked us?”
“That’syour takeaway?”
Axel ignores the exchange and brings the conversation back on track. “Baby all we did was dangle Jessica in front of him.”
“Yeah, like a carrot.” Maverick adds confidently with a pleased smile and all.
Before I can reply Axel beats me to it with a slap up the back of Maverick’s head. I let out a small giggle.
“Um, unnecessary.” Maverick glares at Axel rubbing where he was just hit.
Axel shrugs and keeps going. “I just mean we asked Jessica to flirt with James and see how far it went, he is the one that took it the whole way. We never intended to hurt you.”
“But you did.” Tears fill my eyes and I angrily swipe them away.
“I’m so sorry.”
“Me too, little one.”
At least Mav and Axel have the descent to look remorseful.
“And you?” looking towards Landon.
“Yeah, I’m out, you two have fun. Maverick.” Axel clasps his shoulder and nods his head to the door.
“I want to stay and see how this plays out.”
“Wasn’t a question. Let’s go.”
He huffs but follows Axel out. Landon moves to sit on the edge of the bed.
“Seriously, Landon, what the fuck?”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Landon, for the love of God.”
“You’re mine, ours. That should be enough.”
“You what? Found out he was going to propose, so you sabotaged my relationship?”
“Well, you just said yourself it probably wasn’t going to work out.”
