“Just his fingers,” Ned said, and it was all he could do to keep his own outrage at the proposition of that invasion from breaking free. He didn’t want anyone, much less old Dr. Savage, putting fingers into Ezer’s body. “He needs to check the opening to your womb. But after that, it’ll be over, and so long as there isn’t a problem, then that sort of intrusion will be over until closer to the birth.”
Ezer frowned, rubbing his arms. His tummy was bulging more already, and Ned wanted to ask the doctor about that, too. He knew that pregnancy only lasted four months—and they were over three weeks in now, but he’d thought the majority of growth happened in the later stages.
Ned twined their fingers together.
Ezer didn’t seem comforted by the action, but he also didn’t pull his hand away either. Ned smiled at him, and Ezer’s lips tightened in the opposite of a smile.
“Hey, it’s going to be all right,” Ned said, reassuringly. “It’s just that there could be possible complications, and this will help rule them out.”
“And if there is a problem? Then what?”
“There won’t be,” Ned said with certainty.
That wasn’t the right answer, because Ezer tugged free and turned his face away, too. “You can’t know that.”
“What if there’s a problem with me?” Ned said. “What if I’m not making the right proteins in my semen?”
“Why would you say that?”
“You should be more settled than you are.”
Ezer’s turned back to glare at Ned, and he opened his mouth to speak, but the door to the improvised exam room opened, and Dr. Savage walked in again.
“Well, well, you’re looking sour,” Dr. Savage said with a huff of a laugh. “You should be floating away on a raft of alpha seminal compounds at this stage, well-satisfied and blissful. Are you doing your job, young man?”
“He is,” Ezer answered for him.
Dr. Savage’s brows rose at Ezer’s presumption to speak for his alpha, but he didn’t scold him for it. “Well, then, we’ll have a little look and feel of you, and then we’ll talk about what to expect going forward. You’re both young, healthy—”
“Actually,” Ned interjected. “I’m not so sure that I am healthy? You mentioned that Ezer doesn’t seem as satisfied as he should be. I wondered if that could be my fault.”
“You’re fucking the boy? Then it’s not your fault.”
“My semen. What if the proteins and compounds aren’t sufficient?”
Dr. Savage’s lips tilted up in amusement. “I see. Well, it’s possible.Unlikely…but, good for you for thinking of it at all. The times I’ve had to deal with an alpha who wouldn’t even entertain the possibility that he could be the problem in cases of insufficient satiation.” He looked Ned up and down. “You look healthy enough, though. Lack of protein compounds is usually a problem in old men. But if your omega is in distress, then it’s worth considering—”
“I’m not in distress,” Ezer hissed. “I’m just not happy.”
Dr. Savage laughed. “Oh, I see. He’s a spitfire.” He grinned at Ned. “You like that, don’t you?”
“Yes, sir.”
It was obvious Ezer didn’t enjoy being talked about as if he weren’t there, but he just clenched his jaw and glared more.
“I’ll tell you what,” Dr. Savage said. “Let me do the exam, and if we can’t locate an issue, then we’ll consider testing your semen.” He turned his attention to Ezer. “Lie back, please. I’ll be putting my hands on your abdomen, chest and nipples to check for proper development for milk, and into your body to feel your womb. Your penis may react. Don’t be embarrassed.”
Ezer’s eyes blazed, and he looked as if he might rip Dr. Savage’s head off for suggesting his cock might react to his ass being stimulated by the doctor’s touch. But he said nothing, lying back with a resentful air, despite his obedience.
Dr. Savage met Ned’s gaze again and chuckled. “You have interesting taste, but to each his own.” He then touched Ezer’s arm gently, before sliding his hands over to Ezer’s belly and pressing. His head tilted. “When did you say the heat was?”
“Three weeks and two days ago.”
“Hmm.”
Ezer grew pale, and Ned saw the worry growing in his omega as Dr. Savage pressed with an intense expression.
“Is there a problem?” Ned asked.
