SIMON

“You agreed to it,” I insisted, crossing my arms and leaning back to balance on the legs of the chair across from his desk.

Beaumont scrubbed his hand across his face.

“True mates are sacred.”

“An agreement is sacred,” I retorted.

Hester sniffled, lending to her ‘heartbrokenness’. It was all bullshit; she didn’t care, she just wanted to be mated to an Alpha. We’d been going in circles for the last hour.

“This is getting us nowhere,” Beaumont snarled.

“Agreed.” I grunted.

“May I suggest something, Alpha?” Bryan asked from the corner of the room.

Beaumont waved his hand. “At this point, yes.”

“Maybe you should have your mate present during these?—”

“Silence,” I snapped. Bryan shut his mouth into a thin line. “Go be useful and check on my mate. Make sure she gets some food.”

Bryan turned to Beaumont who curtly nodded. The Beta slipped out, ignoring my sneer.

A heavy moment of silence dragged on as Whitlock and I exchanged heated glares.

“They are still my wolves,” Beaumont snarled, standing. “You?—”

The door banged open again as Bryan burst into the room. “She’s gone!”

From one moment to the next, I exploded from the chair. I was down the hall in moments. My Beta was unconscious and snoring on the ground.

Her scent was too faded, she’d been gone a while.

I snarled, kicking aside the leg of the limp male on the floor. He didn’t rouse, which was to his benefit, or I would have murdered him. Beaumont crouched next to his dropped shirt.

“Maggie helped her,” he growled and was on his feet. I was a step behind him.

Our mate better pray to the Moon Goddess we didn’t chain her up for good.
