Warning bells sounded in my head—not because I felt like he would hurt me, but because I felt like he woulddevourme.
And a little piece of me wanted to find out what that would be like.
“Drink?” he asked, eyes locked on mine. Jesus, why did I have such a weakness for dark men with devilish intentions?
There was no way Wynn was done yet. The tracker was placed. Ciel was working. We were going to find Cas as soon asliterally possible. What harm was one shot and a dance with a hot guy?
I held his gaze, and we downed the shots simultaneously.
He wrapped his hand around mine and slowly pulled the glass from my grip. I didn’t even see the glasses disappear, but suddenly, both of his hands were back around my body, pressing into my hips.
“You always corner women on the dance floor?” I asked as the music swelled and the beat dipped. It was so easy just to close my eyes, lean into this man’s grip, and take a fuckingbreathafter everything that had happened. No wonder this club was a haven for people of the underworld.
“Not always,” he murmured in my ear, letting his lips linger on the tender skin near the side of my neck. “But you seemed like fun. Thought I’d come to see for sure.”
I smiled as our cheeks brushed against one another. “And? Have you reached a verdict yet?”
“Mmhmm.” His lips pressed against my jaw. “Fun.”
I breathed a laugh when his lips drifted even higher up my face.
“So, what did you slip into that man’s jacket?” he whispered, not stopping those tiny kisses. His deep voice rumbled against my chest as his body moved against me with the beat of the music. It was so fucking hot.
I swayed against him, trying to control my surprise. If he had seen that, he wasn’t just a pretty face and a hot as fuck body. He wasaware. Paying attention. A threat?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I replied.
He lifted one of my arms to curl it around his neck, then tracked his fingertips down the exposed, sensitive skin of my underarm. “Should I be concerned?”
“Why do you care?” I gasped when his lips pressed right against the edge of my mouth. I wanted to turn my face so he’d stop teasing and finally kiss me like a man. “Are you his friend?”
He chuckled softly, the sound going straight between my legs. “Not exactly.”
“Then, it’s not a big deal.” I had to suppress a groan. Who the hell was this guy? “I only need information. He won’t get hurt, pinky promise.”
“Hmm,” he rumbled. Scratch what I said earlier, thatsound went right between my legs. “A friend of mine always saysinformation is power.”
“Your friend is right.”
This line of questioning was dangerous. I couldn’t risk anyone knowing who I was and what I was doing here. Distraction was necessary, and I swore to myself it had nothing to do with the growing wetness between my legs.
“Stop dicking around and kiss me,” I demanded as I grabbed his chin and finally brought his lips to mine.
He didn’t hesitate. He kept one hand steady on my hip and the other cradled the back of my neck. His tongue pushed against my lips, far more aggressively than Wynn had done, as he took control of the kiss.
I moaned into his mouth while the hardness of him pressed against my core. In the dark light of the nightclub, with the beat of the music, I could feel every single sensation down to my toes. It didn’t take more than a shot and this dragon’s kiss to leave me feeling totally buzzed.
After the kiss broke, his eyes sparkled down at mine. The only indication that he was even barely affected was the heaviness of his breathing.
“Fun indeed. Come with me?” His fingers slipped through mine, and he tugged me back.
My eyes flicked behind him to a staircase that led somewhere away from the prying eyes of the dance floor.
A make-out session on a crowded dance floor was one thing. Being led away to a private area, God knows where, was another thing entirely. I hesitated.
Shouts briefly drew my attention away from my dragon.
Kolya Makarov was making a scene, locked into a shouting match with the Italian soldier I planted a tracker on.
