Sara cried out at the pain, but the exquisite warmth that rushed through her took her breath away. The connection flared between them, surging through her body, lighting up all her nerve endings in its wake. As it settled into the steady hum of their bond, she felt a rush of joy so strong it made her laugh out loud, the happiness bursting out of her.

Rachel pulled back and placed a kiss over the bite mark before meeting Sara’s gaze. Her smile was huge, green eyes alight with wonder. “Can you feel that?”

Sara nodded, smile just as huge. “Yes.”

Resting their foreheads together, Rachel let out a long, happy sigh. “I never thought we’d get to have this.”

“Neither did I,” Sara admitted. “But we do, and I’m so, so…” She laughed. “Overwhelmed with feelingsright now…”

Rachel closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them, Sara knew she’d never get tired of being looked at that way. “We have the rest of our lives to get to know each other.”

“We do.”

“But…” Her smile turned sly, and she trailed a clawed finger down between Sara’s breasts, making her shiver. “There’s a couple of things I’d like to make a start on right now.”

Sara laughed as Rachel fell backwards, taking Sara with her.

If this was what the rest of her life was going to be like, then the future had never looked so appealing.

Moving back here had been the best decision she’d ever made.
