“How are there so many local paranormal investigators?”Barrett asks, perplexed.

“I don't know, man, we’re bear shifters. There are plenty of us around here.So maybe there are also plenty of ghosts, too?”

Opening the first file, I see it is for the Golden State Ghost Whisperers.I search them up online and their most recent review is actually from our local library.

“These guys just released a ghost from Corvid Valley Library. The Head Librarian says they were professional and efficient.”

“So they are local? These other two are a bit of a drive.Los Angeles and this one is Oakland.”

“Yeah, looks like it.”

“Let’s call them first, then.”

Thursday afternoon, we have an appointment at the offices of Golden State Ghost Whisperers. They are downtown, walking distance from Barrett’s fiance’s place. The office has the look of a magic shop, with interesting trinkets displayed in glass cases. We barely check them out when a man walks out from the back.

“Hi, are you the Hinkleys?”

“Hi, yes, I’m Barrett, and this is my brother Bernie.”

I shake the man’s hand, but the figure that follows him into the room steals my attention.A short, raven-haired, blue-eyed, curvy beauty of a figure.

“Hello, I’m Enid, Ray’s partner.”

Enid

This isthe first time a local construction company has hired us.My only experience with haunted new builds was when an oligarch built his home on a restricted area back in the Town of Sea Glass. That did not go well for him.

I follow Ray out into the main room of our office to find him shaking hands with the most gorgeous man I have ever laid eyes on.When his warm brown eyes meet mine, I feel my legs turn to jello.

“Hello, I’m Bernie Hinkley and this is my brother Barrett.”

I think I say nice to meet you, but I am not really sure. There’s a buzzing in my ears while I shake his hand and I feel woozy.

“Are you OK, Enid?”Ray asks, as he gestures to the brothers to sit down in our meeting area.

“What?Oh, yes.Sorry.Seem to have a headache coming on,” I lie.

“Oh.I can do their intake if you need to head out?”

“No, no, I’m good.Let’s get started.”

I listen to the two men share their experience up at what will be Dark Wings Manor on Ravenhart Mountain.Barrett explains what his foreperson and crew experienced as well.Ray writes what they tell us as I keep stealing glances at the brother named Bernie.

His eyes are the color of nutmeg, his hair dark gray, and his stubbled face very kissable.Squirming in my chair as nonchalantly as possible, my pussy grows warm, thinking of feeling his rough face pressing against mine.I can’t help but notice his chest hair poking out of his plaid button-up shirt and picture me running my hand through it while he kisses me.

“Sound good, Enid?”

“Mmmm?”

I look up, realizing Ray just said something to me.

“Sorry, please say that again. My, uh, head.”

“I was just saying to our clients how this spirit certainly sounds sinister. We should spend the night there, but maybe first a tour?Just to see what exactly we are dealing with here?I’d suggest Josie and Mo for this gig, but they're, of course, in Camarillo, dealing with that haunted bakery craziness.”
