“Mrs. Ashmore!”

Alana turned toward the voice.

“I’m so pleased you’ve returned.” One of the workers darted across the post office floor, waving a missive. “I have another letter for your husband.”

He gave the paper to Alana, who promptly handed the letter to Sebastian. Ripping open Rowland’s seal, Sebastian’s gaze slid over the five words.

“What does it say?” Alana asked, leaning over his arm.

“James Bertrand, Duke of Abercorn.”

“The man your sister ran off with?”

“I assume that’s why he gave me the name,” Sebastian replied, lowering the page. “Ladies, you have missives to write and send. We are on a tight schedule.”

“What are you going to do while we write?”

“Imagine all the places I’m going to have you once we reach England.”

“That sounds much more amusing than corresponding with my brother.” Wrapping her arms around his waist, she tugged him flush against her body. “Do continue.”

“Ah ah.” He wagged his finger, making no attempt to pull away. “No tempting the pirate. I can’t be responsible for my actions if you continue on this course of action.”

“You did book two cabins…”

“Mrs. Dubois, are you attempting to seduce me?”

“We have several weeks before we reach England and descend upon my brother’s hospitality, whether he wants our company or not. How else do you propose we amuse ourselves?”

“I can think of no better pastime,” he replied, bending his head, and brushing his lips against hers.
