Louisa tapped on her iPad screen. “That can’t happen.”

“What?”

“Prince Julian and the rapper. You can’t allow that to happen,” she said emphatically.

Jameson bristled. He had to add “Royal Cock Blocker” to his list of duties? “I’m not his keeper.”

“She’ll be here to perform. If she were to become involved with the prince and the press got wind of it, it would divert all attention from the queen’s intended cause. It would be a disaster!”

Jameson exhaled audibly. “I’m not a babysitter. Besides, she’ll be too busy to get into any kind of trouble with Julian.”

“You’d be surprised at the trouble the prince could get into.”

Heat pricked the back of his neck and he massaged the aggrieved patch of skin, thoughts of his father’s liaisons flashing through his mind like unwelcome ads.

“Actually, I wouldn’t,” he muttered.

Louisa checked her watch. “I really must go. I need to stop by my office before my meeting with the queen. Do you have any other questions for me?”

Why am I doing this?

Why can’t the queen use her own children?

Do I really have a choice?

“No.”

“Splendid. We’ll talk soon,” she said, leaving the room.

All alone, Jameson exhaled as some of the tension of being on display left his body. This celebration, and his involvement in it, was turning into an entire production. And on top of that, he was now required to make sure his uncle and his invited musical guest stayed away from one another.

Which reminds me...

He pulled out his phone and searched for “Duchess.” A video for a song named “Fever” was the first result that popped up.

He clicked on the link.

The same beat from earlier emanated from the device, this time accompanied by heart-stopping, eye-popping visuals. No wonder Julian couldn’t take his eyes off the screen.

She was mesmerizing.
