Then they would. Because there was no way in hell she was giving up on this man. But she knew it wouldn’t be easy. The queen was displeased with Dani. She’d be a force to be reckoned with.
“You do know our being together ensures you’ll never live your life in obscurity again, right?”
“I know. But I’ll deal with anything as long as you’re by my side.”
She was the rapper, but he was the one with a way with words. She glanced at him from beneath her lashes. “Can you handle things when I’m on top of you?”
He pulled her down onto his lap. “My favorite view.”
“Excuse me, Duchess? Sorry to interrupt, but the pilot wanted to know if you’re still planning to leave? We need to let the tower know.”
“One sec,” she told the attendant.
“Of course,” he said, disappearing once again.
She laughed. “Your timing is impeccable.”
Jameson pressed his forehead to hers. “I couldn’t let you leave believing I didn’t care.”
“What are we going to do now? I have to get back to the States.”
He clapped his hands together. “Let’s go.”
She scanned the plane, in case she’d missed it when he first arrived. Nope. “You don’t have any stuff.”
“I didn’t have time. Nothing was more important than getting to you.”
She pouted. “I wish you could come, but you can’t. You need your passport.”
He sighed. “That’s probably for the best. Give me a couple of days to talk to my mother and Rhys and then I’ll fly out to L.A.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure that I don’t want to be without you.”
“You are a sweet, sweet man,” Dani said.
“Let’s keep that our little secret. Come on. I’d better get out of here before anyone sees me.”
They kissed, and this time his tongue slid into her mouth, claiming her with a wild, frantic urgency that dampened her panties. She clutched his shoulders, cursing the yards of fabric separating them, wanting one last chance to slide down his hard, thick length before they parted. While Dani had anticipated the despair she’d feel when the plane took off, at least now she knew their separation wouldn’t be permanent.
Reluctantly breaking away, Dani informed the crew of their plans and Jameson motioned to the flight attendant, who once again opened the door. A roar sounded from the right and a million flashes went off.
“What the hell?” Dani peered out the window.
“So, about that idea of getting out of here unseen...”
“We should’ve expected this,” Dani said ruefully. “There was no way you could ground my plane and think no one would find out about it. Especially after what happened at the ball.”
He straightened his clothes and smoothed a hand over his hair. “Time to face the music.”
“Together.” At his startled look she stood and said, “You don’t have to handle anything on your own ever again, either.”
Jameson descended the five steps to stand on the tarmac. He held out a hand to assist her and slid his arm around her waist when she joined him. The throng of reporters, held a hundred feet away from them by the tall chain-link fence topped with barbed wire that bordered the airport, shouted a torrent of questions.
“Are the rumors true? Are you two dating?”
“Are you in love?”
