CHAPTER TEN

TITAN

T itan walked briskly down the hallway, his mind racing.

He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts as he approached the meeting room.

Now wasn't the time to dwell on River and what she had said to him, or had not said.

What she thought of the art studio, or didn't think.

He had more pressing matters to attend to.

As he entered, Kane and several other high-ranking members of his pack stood from their seats around the large oak table.

"Report." Titan took his place at the head of the table.

Kane moved forward, his face grim. "The shipment of new suppressors should be here in three days."

"Did Doctor Emerson contact us with a total?"

Kane shook his head. "Not yet. He's most likely still working on it. You doubled the order this time."

Titan nodded. "As soon as he delivers to the storage unit and it's been picked up, send the money. We need to make sure he stays invested in helping us."

Kane nodded.

"Ares and Apollo?"

"Nothing yet."

"And the safe house?"

"Still nothing. But we have everyone on it. The estate is under total surveillance. If they or any of their missing guards show up, we'll know."

"We need to accelerate our timeline," Titan said. "How soon can we be ready to move on the estate?"

The room fell silent as the others exchanged uneasy glances.

"Highness," Kane began, "are you sure that's wise? We're still outnumbered, and many of our people aren't trained."

Titan's eyes flashed. "Are you questioning me, brother?"

Kane held his gaze. "I'm advising caution. We've come too far to risk everything on a hasty attack."

For a long moment, tension crackled between them. Then Titan sighed. "You're right," he admitted. "We can't afford to be reckless. But we also can't afford to let Ares and Apollo gain ground. We need a new strategy."

He turned to address the room. "I want options by morning. I also want a complete inventory of our weapons and supplies. If we can't outfight them yet, we'll have to outmaneuver them."

As the others nodded and began discussing potential plans, Titan's thoughts drifted back to River. He wondered what she was doing in the art studio. If she was plotting her own escape, or if maybe, just maybe, she'd started seeing things differently.

He shoved the thought aside.

One thing at a time.
