Page 52 of Alexei
His gaze caught mine, emotionless, as if he was looking straight through me and my heart turned cold in my chest. This man might as well be cut from a cold stone. He was blessed with the face of Adonis, but none of that mattered when he left a trail of ice and death in its wake.
A killer. He had ties to the Irish mafia, Bratva, and Italians. Every criminal organization on this planet that was on the FBI’s radar worked with Alexei Nikolaev. He was their go to man when all else failed. Of course, there was no evidence to support that theory either.
Thanks, Milo,I thought dryly.
“You never answered,” he remarked dryly. I blinked, confused about what he was asking. “Do you have sex?”
My skin flared. At his rudeness, I told myself. My eyes darted to his brother that for some reason remained quiet the entire time, observing his brother and me.
Frustration flickered in my chest that I would find myself in this situation.
“You’re not my type,” I replied dryly.
Women probably swooned all over him, until caught under that cold expression. I’d easily consider him one of the most handsome men I had ever met. If not for those eyes. Blue. Heartless. Colder than the Arctic. His gaze alone was enough to send you running. But there was something hiding in those glacial depths. Deep, deep in the darkness where only monsters lurked.
“Be ready.” His cold voice sent a trail of ice through my veins.
I blinked in confusion. His conversation skills would give me whiplash.
“For what?” I cursed my voice. It came out too breathless. Too unsure. Too shaky.
Goddamn him.
“My call.”
Getting some of my senses back, I cocked an eyebrow. “I haven’t agreed to your ridiculous plan.”
“You will.”
My cheeks flared hot with frustration. “You don’t know that,” I snapped. “You and sex club in the same sentence is bad news. Never mind anything else. I’m not-” My words stammered. “I’m not doing any sex shit with you.” I thought I said it rather convincingly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on you,” he retorted, his voice leveled.
What. The. Fuck?
I must have misheard him. My eyes fleeted to his brother who now had an amused expression on his face.
“I’m not worried,” I snapped back in a taunting voice and a feigned smile on my face. “Because when I lock your ass up, I’ll be surenotto go easy on you.”
“I’m counting on it, kroshka.” A deep timbre in his voice came to the surface, and it could possibly be the only thing this man had going for him.
Mentally, I made a note to look up what kroshka meant.
“I don’t want to do it,” I hissed.
“Yes, you do.” His sharp jawline ticked, and I realized he was pissed off. I almost missed it. “You want to catch this predator, as if your life depends on it.”
It did. One piece of information I never shared with anyone else was that the M.O. of all these kidnappings matched my brother’s. Except, there was a witness. Me.
I wanted to atone for my sins.
Glaring at this man, I hated that he could read me that well. “When I catch him, you will be next,” I promised then whirled around to depart.
A cold shiver prickled at my neck, and a familiar feeling washed over me. Like someone stared at me, burning a hole into me. The same feeling I had all weekend. Ever since I met him.
A wave of uneasiness swelled in my chest. This man wasn’t right.Psychotic, the word kept playing in my mind.
I glanced over my shoulder, my fingers curling around the handle of the door.
