Charlotte:*eye roll emoji* Sorry, Liam stole my phone. Hold on, let me try to call her.
Charlotte:Her phone is definitely turned off.
Bridgette:I just tried too and got her voicemail. I’m getting nervous…this is so unlike her!
Sienna:Agreed. Do we think she was being serious? Did she actually get married?
Charlotte:I can’t imagine she would get married without inviting us *woman shrugging emoji*
Sienna:You’re totally right. It must’ve been a typo.
A few hours later, after the news of the wedding broke, the group chat blew up again.
Sienna:OH. MY. GOSH.
Bridgette:What?!
Charlotte:Spill!!!
Sienna:*link toA First Look at the Royal Wedding No One Saw Comingnews article*
Bridgette:*exploding head emoji*
Charlotte:She married King Colin of Edgemont?!?!
Sienna:It appears we have another queen in our midst *crown emoji*
Bridgette:I can’t believe she actually got married!
Charlotte:Ro, you better respond soon, or I’ll make Liam send the Wistonian Royal Guard to Edgemont!
Charlotte:You know he would do it.
Their texting had stopped for the night but picked back up early this morning.
Sienna:Should we book flights to go check on her?
Bridgette:I’m starting to get genuinely concerned…
Charlotte:I say if we don’t hear from her at all today, we fly to Edgemont.
Bridgette:Agreed.
Sienna:Ditto. I’m in!
Rosalie smiled down at her phone. Throughout her life, she’d had a few friends, but she’d never hadthis. Friends who cared so deeply about her that they would risk going to literal war for sending another country’s Royal Guard to check on her. Friends who would fly hundreds of miles away to the country of Edgemont simply to check on her and make sure she was okay.
A single tear formed in her eye and dropped onto her cheek, representing the sheer gratitude she felt for her friends.
Rosalie moved out onto the balcony attached to her room and sat on the outdoor sofa overlooking the calm ocean below, stretching as far as her eyes could see. When she was ready, she opened the chat with her friends again and finally responded.
Rosalie:So sorry, my phone was off! I’m here, and I’m okay.
The responses were almost instant, like her friends had been sitting and staring at their phones, waiting for her text.
Sienna:SHE LIVES.
Charlotte:Ro, I’m so glad you’re okay!
