And I apologize if this message gets you down
Then I CC'ed every girl that I'd see-see 'round town
With the microphone in one hand and a cup of Hennessy in the other, I rapped along to Outkast and UGK’s “Int’l Players Anthem” as I ate up the dancefloor at Kodi’s and my wedding reception.
It’s been two glorious years since I made her my wife, and we finally decided to have a wedding.
She refused to do it while she was pregnant, and I didn’t mind waiting.
She already carried my last name, as well as my heart.
Waiting a little longer for an expensive -ass party didn’t hurt nobody but my mama.
“Your ass ain’t put that mic down or stopped smiling since you got here.” Skip chuckled as he came over and threw his arm over my shoulder. “I’m proud of you, man. Your family is beautiful. Love and happiness looks good on you.”
After paying my brother a pretty penny and promising to act like I had sense, Skip agreed to let us have our reception at his club.
While it was only family and close friends, we had enough security on duty that there was nothing that could have possibly brought me out of character.
As I continued to vibe to music, I looked around for my wife.
Dancing on the other side of the room with her sisters-in-law, Kodi looked beautiful in her custom-made gown from Uptown Threadz.
The designer was a homegirl of ours, and she did a hell of a job on the ivory-pearled dress that framed Kodi’s new mama hips perfectly.
The way the mermaid-style dress clung to her new D cups had me making plans for when I ripped it off later.
Feeling my eyes on her, she glanced at me before saying something to the girls and switching my way.
Thank God her father was babysitting tonight because both of us were fucked up and planned to fuck each other up in the best way.
“Did I tell you how good you look in this suit, daddy?” She ran her hand up and across my chest before she threw her arms around my neck. “I’ve been leaking all day just looking at you.”
“Dakota, get your ass off that microphone!” her father yelled out, causing everyone to laugh. Kodi was so embarrassed that she placed her head in my chest. “That’s why you have the Double Dose Divas now.”
Right on cue, I felt a light tug at the bottom of my slacks.
Looking down, I locked eyes with Shimmer and Shine, also known as my twin daughters, Azalea and Delilah.
Named after her deceased mother and her love for flowers, my kids were the most beautiful little girls I’d ever seen outside of Gi Baby.
The Mills just had good-ass genes, and it was no wonder the bitches wanted any of us to throw a baby in their asses.
Those days were over, though. My brothers and I had found our homes in three women who made us better than we were before.
Putting down the mic and cup, I stepped back from my wife and picked up my babies to dance with them to the music. These two, along with their mother, were my reason for waking up every day, and I thanked God for them.
When I found out Kodi was pregnant with twin girls, I just knew I was being punished for all the shit that I’ve done over the years.
I had to have another talk with the Big Man because he gave me a sign that day that everything was going to be good, regardless of my past. Seeing that I was going to have to father two little girls had me ready to Cheddar Bob myself again.
I was worried about whether I would be a good example of what a man was, but the moment I looked into their bright eyes, I knew they were my chance to do things the right way.
While they had my skin tone and kinky hair, they were every bit of their mother’s beauty.
It may sound like a double standard, but I will never allow them to be treated the way I treated women.
I’d kill any nigga that even looked at them wrong.
“You look so good dancing with our babies,” Kodi cooed as she pinched their cheeks. They were nothing but gums as Delilah lay her head on my chest, and Azalea clapped her little hands to the music. “Almost makes me want to do it again.”
Kodi really upped the score when she announced her pregnancy with a live commercial.
I always prided myself on being over the top when it came to expressing my love for her, but what she did in front of millions of viewers blew me away.
When I asked her how she pulled it off, she told me she’d gotten Francisco’s contact from my phone, hired a videographer team and a creative director, and pretended to work double shifts to practice the dance routine.
I wasn’t even mad about her stealing Francisco’s number when I heard about the whole setup.
She had truly gone all out to surprise me, and her commercial production led us to make the baby Kodi Love 7s a reality.
In fact, we’d just recently launched our baby apparel line, Crib Kicks.
“Girl, you owe me a son, and I want to cash in tonight.” I winked at her, causing her to blush. “Dance with us.”
As the Outkast and UGK song faded through the speakers, Ashanti’s “Baby” began to play.
Since falling in love with Kodi, every single song reminds me of the love she and I share.
Grabbing Azalea from me, the crowd around us faded as we shared a dance together.
Looking down at my girls, I draped my arm over Kodi’s shoulder, telling her exactly how I felt.
It's kind of sick how I'm stuck on you
But I don't care 'cause I'm needing you
Peering up at me, I saw all the love Kodi had for me in her eyes. Every day, she looked at me as if her world began and ended with me. This moment, with our kids, is how I wanted things to always be with us.
I never wanted love, and I damn sure never had the desire to have a family. Now that I’ve experienced both, I don’t know how I was about to live without it—without her.
Having a woman who loves you despite your flaws and makes you feel like the king of her universe was something I now highly recommend for any man who’s truly a man.
Finding hoes was easy, but a woman who’s loyal and supplies you with unconditional love is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling.
Experiencing that love with Kodi and my children is all I need in this life.
All the riches in the world will never compare to that, including the Wild coin.
The End!
