Page 86 of A Marquess to Save Her
It took all of his self-control to not take her there and then.
"I noticed," Louise replied, smiling, "you look absolutely dashing yourself."
Damning all consequences, Callum leaned over to his wife and claimed her lips. He kissed those rosy and full red lips of hers and she responded with fervor.
He pulled back when he had had his fill of her lips.
"I have wanted to do that all morning," he said to her.
"You did not particularly hide it as you were ogling me in the church," Louise said, laughing.
The carriage stopped then and Callum knew that they were home.
"Welcome to your new home, my love," he said to his wife as they disembarked, holding hands.
He did not expect the throngs of people that he saw making their way into the house. Callum had wanted the wedding ceremony and the wedding breakfast to be an intimate affair between their families and friends only, but he knew now that it was not possible considering his father's position.
A loud ovation greeted their arrival at the house. Just like Callum had feared, the wedding breakfast was filled to the brim with tons of people, some that Callum knew and some that he did not.
People came in ones and twos to congratulate them and yet the only thing that Callum truly wanted was to spend time alone with his wife.
He leaned toward her and whispered in her ears.
"Do you think they would notice if we sneaked off into the bedroom? I could have the maids bring our breakfast to the bedroom," He asked, touching the small of her back to drive the point home.
Louise smiled and he could tell that she at least considered the idea too.
She, however, shook her head. "It sounds tempting but imagine that our absence would be noticed. Moreover, we still have to cut the cake."
Callum huffed.
They were soon served breakfast that comprised of bread, hot rolls, buttered toast, ham, and eggs.
They were asked to cut the cake after this and soon enough, the guests began to drink and loosen up. At this moment, Callum knew that if they sneaked off, no one would be any wiser. He was about to tell Louise this when a towering figure entered the room.
It was Felington and he did not look like he was there to congratulate them on their wedding. In fact, he looked mad, and Callum was not certain if he was sober as he staggered a little when he entered the room.
Callum was prepared to get the stewards to throw him out but he did not quite seem to be interested in causing any disturbance. Rather, he took his seat at the table and poured himself alcohol.
"What is he doing here?" Louise asked.
"You do not have to worry about a thing. If he as much as looks at you the wrong way, I will have him thrown out," Callum said, his eyes trained on the man who used to be his best friend.
"I imagine that he would be smart enough to not start any ruckus," Louise said.
Callum shrugged.
As time went on, however, Callum did not see any cause for alarm, therefore, he relaxed and focused on having as much fun as possible.
"Let us toast to the new couple," one of the guests said.
"Hear Hear!"
"Cheers to a ton of babies that would keep the couple busy and the house noisy," someone said.
Callum saw his wife smile in his direction.
"I cannot wait for them to leave so that we can get to making those babies," Callum whispered to her.
