Page 121 of A Female Alpha for the Lycan Prince
Sort of. It’s more like my witch senses are telling me where she is,I tell them before taking the lead. Eric and two warriors, who are all still in their human form, follow us.
We easily take down every guard we see. Some shift into wolves, some try to hit us with weapons. But they are weak. It’s obvious they have never trained their wolves or their senses.
Fuck, this is easy,Harmony mutters while knocking two rogues over. Behind us, Eric hits one guy with his elbow while kicking another in an elegant martial arts move. He doesn’t even break a sweat. Eric is often underestimated because he’s not as bulky as most alphas normally are. But Liam once told me that not all lycan alphas are built the same, and that their strength comes from all kinds of places. Eric is proof of that, just like my friend Finn is too.
When we head up a staircase that leads into a tower, I link my other teams.Report.
The outside area is secured, one of the warriors responsible for the garden and the courtyard answers.
Your grand-… er… Jade, another warrior links me, obviously confused as to what to call her,has the witch under control. The other witch surrendered without a fight…
No issues anymore in the main building,my biggest group reports.A few warriors were injured by enemy guns. But nothing major. No silver bullets.
I nod in relief.Garret!?
The basement is secured,Garret links us, but his voice sounds strained.
But?I inquire.
We found the girl, Alpha, the one from the pictures. The daughter. I don’t know what they did to her, but… she’s dead, but also not dead…
Just keep the area secured,I tell him. This is something we will have the lycans and the Council look at.
The further up we reach, the more Valerie’s scent hits me. There are more scents mingling with hers now. It seems like there are male wolves around her…
*VALERIE*
There is yelling downstairs and a huge commotion happening outside. I feel a strong presence around us, and I can smell wolves from my pack. They’re here! They came! Relief fills me. Suddenly, I pick up another scent with them… something sweet, like cherry blossoms and oranges… and dark chocolate. I take a careful sniff, my heart skipping a beat.
“What is it, Valerie?” Luca asks nervously.
“Just a heavenly scent,” I mutter. It can’t be… can it?
He gasps. “Do you think…?”
“Maybe,” I shrug. “But let’s hurry.”
“What’s going on down there?” Luca asks curiously.
“Wolves from my pack,” I say proudly before flushing. “And someone I haven’t met yet.”
He nods, relief clear in his expression now that we obviously have backup. We make our way further downstairs before a tall figure suddenly blocks our path.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Henrick hisses at us. “And you, you traitor,” he yells at his son. “You’re my biggest mistake. It should have been you, wolf-less and sick, not her.”
My heart breaks a little for Luca. No one should ever hear something like that from their parents. My sister, Lauren, is a traitor, yet not even in their darkest hours did my parents stoop so low as to call her existence a mistake.
Henrick is not finished though. “You’ve always been useless,” he continues his rant. “You should have been there for your sister, helping to save her.”
“No,” Luca says quietly, much to my surprise, looking at his father directly now. “That’s what you should have done. You should have been there for her.”
Seeing Henrick close-up, he has lost most of his scariness to me. It’s obvious this man is broken, and most likely, his wolf is broken too. He has lost everything due to his own actions, and there is no peace in his soul. I pull Luca behind me, which must look funny because I’m smaller than him. But I don’t care. Luca hasn’t had anyone to protect him. It’s about time. “I’ll make sure Ciara finds the peace she deserves,” I tell Henrick, my eyes flashing in anger. “As for you, I make no promises.”
I don’t know if my gift will work as it did with Lenny again. I’m not even sure how I did it before, but I have to try again. However, before I can begin, I’m distracted by the asshole, aka Lenny, as he comes running down the staircase with a knife in his hands. “I’ll get rid of them for you, Father,” he hisses.
“Oh, now, you want to get rid of me?” I huff. “What happened to ditching your family because you wanted me? You begged me to come with you. Something about everyone being worthless, and you not caring about weaklings like Ciara. Have you changed your mind in the last thirty minutes, or do you just have a very poor memory?”
“What?” Henrick turns to look at him and hisses. “You said what!?”
