We stand in silence for a minute until my stomach rumbles.

“Okay, let me go get some food so we can come back in here.”

“I’ll take a water if you have one,” he says as he sits down in the empty seat at the table.

“Got it.” I reach in and grab us each a bottle of water. Then take my plate with the quesadilla on it from the oven.

When I walk back over to the table, Archie reaches for me and pulls me onto his lap.

It makes my roommates laugh.

“You the caveman type, Archie Griffith?” Livi asks him.
