Story: Walking the Edge
“You’re so agreeable.” She leaned forward to smooth a hand over white scars near his collarbone and thread her fingers into his hair. “What happened to ‘my way or the highway’?”
“I proved I can compromise.” He lifted both of them higher against the pillows, urged her forward, and rubbed his wet tongue across her nipple. Yes, yes, yes. “Otherwise you wouldn’t be presenting your delectable body to me like this.”
He skated his mouth over to lavish attention on her other breast, and her whole body thrummed with eagerness. His questing hands on her tummy finally found their mark. She clenched. “Yes. That.”
Was it possible to feel this much and want even more? “Please…”
“Please what?” A furrow tugged his brows closer.
She rubbed his frown away. “Please continue.”
He laughed and shifted under her to press his mouth to the center of her desire. She gasped and shoved against his shoulders.
“Should I back off?”
Yes. No. “Maybe it’s too much. No one’s ever…”
“Relax. I promise it will be good.” He returned to his ministrations. She closed her eyes and stopped thinking. Sensations deluged her, sweeping her closer and closer to an edge. Faster and faster. There, there. Almost.
Without warning, she blew apart. But Mitch would not let up. He sent her over again and again.
“Too much,” she whispered finally.
He settled her on her side and swung his legs off the bed. “I need a minute.”
She clung to his pillow, inhaling his scent. “What are you doing?” Was that her dreamy voice?
“Taking care of business.” He came back to sit on the edge of the bed. Foil crinkled between his strong fingers.
“Wait.” She reached for him.
He pushed her hands aside. “Don’t.”
“But it’s your turn.”
“I’ll get mine. Don’t worry.” He smoothed on his protection and eased into her, filling her completely. Exactly as she’d fantasized. He opened his eyes. “Is that still okay?”
“You have to ask?”
“I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You’re not.” She closed her eyes and yielded to the sweet sensations building again.
“You feel so good.” He withdrew and drove into her again. And again. He nipped at her mouth, her neck, rapid-firing shivers through her.
“Hang on to me.” His tempo increased. Faster and faster. Suddenly, he shuddered and her name burst from him as he broke apart.

Mitch held on to Cath and let his breathing slow. She amazed him. He amazed himself.
She snuggled against his shoulder, and he smoothed her damp hair from her face. “Your back okay?”
“I’m not feeling my back right now.”
A smile stretched his face. “That’s good.”
He’d succeeded in taking her mind off their misadventure. She might even have forgotten about her brother’s problems. They would both have to start thinking about Les Hurley again tomorrow. Mitch rolled his head. Make that today. According to the inn’s digital clock.
