Theo sighed heavily and wrapped his arm around my waist, tucking me into his side and dropping a kiss on the top of my head. “I miss my brother.”

“You’ve already seen him more in the last six months than you have in the last ten years. This is only the beginning.”

He pulled back so he could look into my eyes. “You’re an eternal optimist, you know that?”

I grinned and shrugged. “You need that in your life.”

“That is the truth of it. You think we’ll be happy?” He looked up at the hills barely visible in the evening light.

My heart filled with hope and love. “I think we’ll be very happy here. City power couple by day, quiet loners by night.”

He shook his head and laughed. “I have everything I ever dreamed of having, all because I couldn’t keep my hands off you on a dance floor.”

“Funny how life works.”

“It’s not funny. It’s fucking perfection.” Then he raised his hand, giving some sort of signal to the bandleader. The music instantly changed to a high-energy jive. “May I have this dance?”

My heart thudded with anticipation. Life was always going to be exciting with Theo. “This one and every one after.”
