Story: Substitute Bride
Vikrant just stared at Akhil silently, as if he had no answers left. Akhil shook his head gently and said,
"If you like, I can try to find out who that man was, how he came into your mother's life, and what really happened between your parents. Maybe we’ll uncover something that helps erase your hatred completely... or at least gives some peace to this restlessness inside you."
Vikrant leaned his head back against the chair, closed his eyes, but all he could see was Sonia’s face, spinning before his eyes, disturbing his mind once again. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and looked at Akhil.
"Find everything. Soon…"
CHAPTER 38
FURIOUS VIKRANT
Jhankar is breathing deeply, but Vikrant continues to pound without pausing for even a moment. The smile on his face gives her a strange yet comforting sense of peace. As he finally releases, he pulls her into his arms and begins breathing heavily. Jhankar gently runs her fingers through his hair and softly says,
“Vikrant… I’m tired…”
Vikrant immediately smiles and rolls over, still holding her in his arms. He allows her to rest on his chest while he gently strokes her hair and lightly caresses her waist, attempting to help her fall asleep more quickly. Jhankar is utterly exhausted, but she can’t seem to drift off just yet. She keeps drawing small circles on his chest, sometimes kissing him with half-sleeping absentmindedness, while Vikrant’s smile refuses to fade. He looks at her lovingly and says in a low voice,
“My love, you need to sleep… or I’ll just end up tiring you out more.”
“If you dare to do that,” Jhankar replies sleepily but firmly, “I’m warning you, I won’t be discussing the project in tomorrow’s meeting. Instead, I’ll be discussing how my husband tormented me all night.”
Hearing that, Vikrant bursts into laughter. Jhankar playfully nips at his chest and lightly punches it as she pouts.
“Why are you so strong…”
Smiling warmly, Vikrant kisses her forehead without delay and pulls her tightly into his embrace, closing his eyes. Tomorrow is a crucial day; a major gun consignment is expected, and he’ll be collecting it himself. He knows very well how big this deal is. In such a situation, he can’t rely solely on his men. The Indian government has also received alerts about the shipment, indicating a significant risk of a police raid. He’s deep in thought but not the least bit anxious. He’s used to dealing with high-stakes situations. His only focus now is Jhankar’s peaceful, sleeping face. He gently brushes her hair aside and whispers without disturbing her sleep.
“I’ve never feared anything in my life… But now, I’m scared of being away from you. I never feared death before… But now, the thought of dying means being separated from you. That’s why I have to be extra careful.”
He doesn't worry about tomorrow. Tonight, he just wants to live in the present, fully and beautifully. As he watches her face with love, he slowly allows sleep to take him over.
The next morning, Vikrant wakes up and instinctively turns to his side. To his surprise, Jhankar is still lying on his chest, her chin resting softly on it. She’s awake, smiling at him warmly.
“Good morning, love…” she whispers.
Vikrant grins and leans closer, aiming to kiss her lips, but she stops him by gently placing a finger over them.
“I just gave you such a sweet ‘Good morning,’ and instead of replying properly, you're already trying to get in the mood so early in the day?”
Without saying a word, Vikrant suddenly grabs her, flips her onto the bed, and pins both her hands above her head. He kisses her deeply on the lips, then slowly moves down to kiss her neck while murmuring,
“I can’t help it. You’re too tempting…”
Jhankar giggles under his touch and wriggles playfully beneath him.
“You’re impossible…”
she says, rolling her eyes with a smile. He sucks her pink areola, and a sweet moan escapes.
“Ahhh….”
“Little bit louder, love….”
With a very proud smile, he requested Jhankar, who was already lost in the magic of his lips and suddenly feeling so wet, he knows everything, to slowly slide his length while she quickly hugged him tightly.
“Do you want me to limp…”
“Not bad… But I can't stop myself…. I will take care of you.”
