Story: Stolen Kisses
Chase
"We can’t do anything but wait," she murmured.
"I know." Fucking hell, the thought of spending the entire night here with her was messing with my mind. It was testing my restraints. I could barely keep myself in check at work when we were surrounded by hundreds of employees; I had zero chances of staying away from her tonight. I knew it in my bones.
"I have a few flashlights," she said, "and candles, but I don't want to accidentally burn the place down."
"Where are the flashlights?"
"In the kitchen, under the sink."
We both went that way, holding the light of our phones as a guide.
"I'll take them out," I said, crouching down. There were only two of them.
"These should last for a while. Maybe we should turn one on as a nightlight of sorts in the living room?" she suggested.
"The darkness doesn't bother me."
"All right." She pulled her hand away from the flashlight, grazing my arm in the process.
I grabbed her wrist, needing to touch her. I was desperate for it.
She gasped and inhaled sharply.
"Your skin is so soft." I moved my fingers farther up, brushing her arm. Her skin turned to goose bumps, and I cupped her shoulder before tucking her hair behind her ear. I stepped closer to her. "You smell amazing. Do you know how hard I have to fight my instincts every day?"
"You do?" she asked in a soft voice.
"Hell yes. All I want to do is find an excuse, any at all, to ask you into my office."
"Why?"
"To see you, talk to you... do this." I moved my hand up her back and then drew my middle finger in a straight line down her spine.
This time she moaned, and I knew without a doubt that tonight, I was going to break all the promises I'd made to her. "I want to ask about your day and tell you about mine. More than anything, I want to kiss you so damn bad." I spoke into her ear, and she shuddered lightly. She put her hand on my chest, moving it up to my shoulder, then rested her thumb on my neck.
"I think about that, too, all the time," she muttered, then sighed against my skin.
I was fighting against all my instincts, hanging by a thread. I needed to kiss her more than I'd ever needed anything else.
"Hannah," I murmured.
"Yes?" Her voice was apprehensive. She pressed her thumb even harder against my neck.
“You’re shivering. Go get in the shower.”
“Come with me," she said.
It took a few seconds for her words to register, but when they did, I couldn't hold back.
"Say it again."
"Come with me."
I touched her face again, pressing my thumb over her lips. "I've wanted you since the wedding. I've wanted you every day, and somehow I've been able to fight my instincts, but I can't anymore.”
I captured her lips with mine in the next second. Fuck, this was surreal: her taste, feeling her breath, her tongue. She was delicious.
"We can’t do anything but wait," she murmured.
