“Exactly,” Isabella said with a sigh. “We want to co-parent and to do that we need to get along.”

“You’re right. The boys come first,” Spencer said.

Isabella sat down in the chair across from his desk. “The boys do come first, but they’re not everything.”

Spencer raised his eyebrows.

“There has to be more and I’ve found that with Kelsey. We will always be there for our kids, but they’ll be on their own someday.”

Spencer nodded. “It’s hard to be divorced around here, Isabella. You know that, but add to it being gay. It won’t be easy for you.”

“I know.” Isabella winced. “But I won’t be alone.”

“Let me guess? Kelsey’s moving here,” he said evenly. Then he chuckled and looked at the ceiling. “Well, of course she is.”

“You might actually like her,” Isabella said.

Spencer nodded. “Maybe.”

They stared at each other then both smiled. “I’m an old Southern boy,” Spencer said with an exaggerated accent. “And you’re a progressive badass. What a combination. No wonder we didn’t make it.”

“But we have two amazing kids,” Isabella said.

“That we do,” he agreed. “I’m sorry about the comments. I shouldn’t have messed with your business.”

“No, you shouldn’t have. I came here in hopes that I wouldn’t yell at you, but that didn’t work,” Isabella said with a shrug.

Spencer laughed. “You always liven things up around here. That hasn’t changed.”

“Don’t forget to pick the boys up from school on Thursday,” Isabella said, getting up and walking to the door. “I leave for St. Thomas that day.”

“It’s on my schedule,” Spencer said, walking around his desk. “Safe travels.”

“Hmph,” Isabella muttered. “It almost sounded like you meant that.”

Spencer smiled. “I do.”

“See there? It’s not so hard to get along.” Isabella grinned and walked out the door.

“It won’t be long now,” Isabella said, looking out the window as the plane descended.

Kelsey reached for her hand and held it in her lap. “I had a long talk with Dana and Emma after you and the boys went home. I wanted to be sure they were okay with my move.”

Isabella furrowed her brow. “I thought they were excited about it.”

“They are, but I’m not sure they realized we were leaving their childhood home,” Kelsey said.

“Oh, babe. I didn’t think of that. Are they okay?” Isabella said.

Kelsey nodded. “I’ll only be bringing my clothes and a few other things to Charlotte.”

“Wait a minute,” Isabella said, looking into Kelsey’s eyes. “You’re moving in with us, but this has to be your home, too. We have to fix this.”

“Can we fix one thing at a time, please?” Kelsey smiled. “Let’s focus on saving this marketing campaign for the next few days. We can talk about the move later.”

“You moving in with us is more important than anything on this trip,” Isabella said.

“I agree, but I’m moving no matter what. We have time to talk about that, but we only have a few days to make people fall in love with us as a couple.”
