Page 30 of Only Between Us
“What the hell was that?” I hiss. “We said no kissing.”
Brooks brushes my cheek with his thumb. “Smile, Pippen. People are watching.”
I thread my fingers through his hair. There. We’re just a couple having a moment. And Brooks Attwood is definitelynota dead man walking.
“You did that on purpose.”
“Me?”His eyes are hard, but he presses his forehead to mine with a sweet smile. “You said go left, so I went left. You’re the one who swerved the wrong way.”
I stroke the soft hair at the back of his head. “I told you to goright. You totally kissed me on purpose!”
“Un-fucking-believable. I never took you for delusional.” His shoulders shake with an incredulous laugh that could pass for flirtatious. “Don’t pin this on me. You broke your own rule.”
I cup his cheek, feeling his stubble underneath my skin. “Well, I hope you enjoyed it, seeing as it was your last.”
Brooks presses kisses along my jaw, all the way to my ear. “My last kiss ever? You might have a monopoly on the next couple months of my life, sweetheart, but the second this is over—”
I give him my bestI’m madly in love with my boyfrienddreamy doe eyes. “I’m going straight back to Aidan.”
“Don’tfuckingsay his name,” he growls, tucking me in closer so that my breasts press against the hard padding across his chest. He stamps a hard kiss on my mouth.
My satisfied smile grows, and I don’t even need to fake it. “Oh, I’m sorry. Does that bother your caveman brain? The idea that I’ve had other men before I had you?”
“You haven’t had me.”
“Much to your disappointment.”
“Mine? You just climbed me in front of forty thousand people.”
“As if you don’t like the attention. You get off on this, don’t you? The adoring fans, the sound of your own name being screamed in your presence.”
“The only time I care about hearing my name screamed in my presence is with a pair of thighs wrapped around my head.” Brooks digs his fingers into my ass where he holds me, just roughly enough that I’d enjoy the hell out of it if we weren’t quietly arguing in front of thousands of people. A traitorous whimper leaves my mouth, and he lifts an eyebrow. “Like it rough, Pippen?”
My heart fucking stutters.
It’s the low tone of his voice, the stupid, sexy smirk. His hands onmy ass. The way he looks at me like he knows the answer isyes. If I’m honest, it’s the cheers around us, too. The fact that we’re pulling this off. Together. Convincing everyone.
It feels too damn good.
“Put me down,” I demand through my smile. Before I do something stupid, right here in front of all these people.
Brooks leans closer and sweetly grazes the tips of our noses. His gaze drops to my mouth. “Ask me nicely.”
“Aw, baby,” I let my voice go breathy, sugary, and bat my lashes at him, “would you pretty please get your hands off my ass and stop eye-fucking me in the middle of this stadium? It’s making me nauseous.”
Apparently, it’s possible for the look in his eyes to go dirtier. “Say that again without looking like you’re dying for me to fuck you with more than just my eyes.”
I choke on my breath.
With a smirk, Brooks sets me on my feet back behind the fence, doing a much better job at ignoring the forty thousand pairs of eyes on us. He smooths the hair off my face in a move that elicits more than a couple of nearbyawws.
I fist my hands at my sides, resisting the urge to punch him in the dick.
Brooks backs away toward the field, throwing me another stupid wink. “Enjoy the rest of the game, baby.”
